In that case, would someone be able to check pricing / availability with MWEB and WAGE? Unfortunately I'm on a 3G connection at the moment, and it's not working particularly well. If we can get details, I'm happy to sort out the financials/order once it has been decided.

seems cost is per slot at R9.64 per slot - I presume that is per month.

Hey guys.. Read this thread and my proxy at work timed me out (quick explanation, the proxy allows 4x 15m sessions to browse gaming sites... and I have been at my desk for about 3 hours in past 2 weeks..)

My reply is as follows:

I think we should look at getting a 16 player server. It does not need to be ranked, but should have the possibility of being ranked for when anyone wants to jam some. If there is a cost increase to getting the server ranked, and its a sizeable amount / we don't have a solid payment system, leave it unranked.

We will no doubt have at least 10 active Battlefield players. Even 5 v 5 scrims are good practice for learning a map and keeping your strategic cap dust-free. In fact, some of the bigger competitions that BF2 had were 5 v 5 format.

If an admin is required to look after the server, I wouldn't mind watching over and using http://www.bf3cc.com/ once its released.

According to Lee's research (ta Ducky)
[Today at 11:36:14 AM] Lee: R168/mo for public 16player server
[Today at 11:36:42 AM] Lee: R336/mo for public 32player server

We need to make a decision here, do we want the server strictly for clan practice? Then again, don't see why we can't have both :)

Thanks for the input Phats but we already got the server it is a 32 player server we have for 6 months. It costs R292 a month (pre-paid for 6 months) which I don't think is excessive.

Lee also found a cool tool for us to use, I have already installed it and will give it a go once I get my BF3. I think we are well set (assuming good participation) for a good ran at any league

So lock and load, it is go time

Lee, please drop me a PM / BBM. I have just installed the new server management software (BF3CC) and would like to give admin styles a shot.

Any objections can be discussed, but I really want to learn the other side of the field a bit :)

Hmmm, seems that my post from yesterday disappeared, along with the original D3 thread...

Okay, the situation is that our 6 month server rental wxpires in a couple of days. I've received an invoice for another six months, at a cost of $224, for our 32 player server. Being as we never use the server but for practices, I don't think we need 32 player slots. As such, I've reduced the player cout to 16 for the next six months (reducing the cost by half - $112).

Any objections to me doing this? If so, speak now because I intend doing the payment in the next 24 hours.

Geth also mentioned our free server with MWEB due to having enough MWEB ISP users. Where are we with this? Has it happened? If so, is Paul going to take this forward with MWEB? We're short of time here before we lose the server, I need to know which route we're going.

I don't think there are enough people who are on MWEB.

I am still not because they have to move the line over from telkom. They said 2 weeks but nothing yet.

I say go for the 16 players slot down grade. We only use it for pracs anyway

Okay, given that I didn't get any additional feedback, I've paid our subscription for the next 6 months. You should note in the next couple of days that our server capacity drops from 32 player to 16 player.

Cost was $112.05, which translates to R867.76. I'll reimburse myself from the slush fund. Incidentally, the fund is looking pretty good at the moment, with a balance of R11,253. Thanks for the contributions, guys. After the server rental costs, we have a balance of R10,385.24.
