LOTRO Leveling Guide: Where to Go and When

This LOTRO leveling guide will hopefully make the leveling process a breeze! I've used this method for numerous characters... I have 15 toons at level 65 ;) Nothing was more painful than my first time through the game!
Quests are by far the absolute best way to gain levels quickly. However, knowing the right places to start questing can be tricky when playing the game for the first time.
Once you get the hang of it, you will find yourself progressing through The Lord of the Rings Online very quickly. My LOTRO leveling guide will show you:

• the best quests and areas
• Where to go for your level
• Places and quests to avoid
• The best order to complete quests for the fastest leveling
• Tips for power leveling
Following the guide will advance your character easily from level 1 to 65. It contains the locations I've used over and over to quickly level. This guide is for all players, including those new to the game, casual players, and even power levelers.
One quick thing to remember - It is better to stay a couple levels ahead of the quests. This makes for the easiest and most efficient path through most mmorpg games. For example, try not to move on to a level 15 questing area until you're level 16 or 17.
Basically, just follow the LOTRO guide. It ensures you will have plenty of easy quests to complete throughout the entire game. If you get ahead of yourself early on, you can have a rough time once you get to Moria and Mirkwood.

Levels 1 to 6 In the Introduction Instance

The introduction instance is pretty easy, but this LOTRO leveling guide should make it even easier! There are a few things you'll want to learn quickly if this is your first time.

Check out the guides area on the site to find tutorials on setting up your quests tracker, understanding the quest log, and using the filters on in game maps. I have several videos on how to set everything up and to show you some key things to look for.
Once you're ready to start gaming get your favorite beverage and a snack... we're about to blow through the introduction instance!

First Task
The first thing you will want to do is pick up all of the quests in the area. Do this by right clicking anyone with a gold ring over their head and accepting the quest. You can see gold rings on the mini-map as well. Once you've accepted all available quests simply follow the quest instructions. The quest tracker can also point you in the right direction.
Learning to use the quest tracker and quest description to quickly find the quest locations is the fastest way to level in The Lord of the Rings Online. Get used to how Turbine puts quests together and you'll be a step ahead. Most times when you get to a location, a few rings will be available. Once you complete those quests, more will open up. Always finish all of the quests in the area before moving on.
When you finish the introduction you should be level 5 or 6. I recommend completing all of the quests in the intro before moving on to the next section of the LOTRO leveling guide... especially if this is your first time playing. It is the very easiest and best way to get to level 6.

Depending on which race you chose (man, dwarf, elf, or hobbit) you will start out in a specific location. Read on for your specific race.

Dwarves:

The dwarven race starts out in a place called Frerin's Court. Use your map (press the "m" key) to get your bearings and a feel for north/south/east/west.
You should have a couple of quest rings in the court to pick up. You will then be killing lynx and wolves in the area just to the east. Turn the quests in once completed and pick up the next bunch that becomes available. Continue this process until all quests are completed.
The final quest will be given by Dwalin. Make sure you complete all other quests before this one. Once you finish the final quest from Dwalin you will finally be able to fully explore Middle Earth, but cannot return to the introduction instance.


Elves:
Elves start in a place called the Refuge of Edhelion. Use your map (press the "m" key) to get your bearings and a feel for north/south/east/west.
You will immediately see some elves with rings over their heads. Get all available quests and begin completing them. All of the quests in this area are very easy and close by. You will first start out by killing some bugs and slugs. You will also search some leaf piles and a pond nearby. Continue accepting new quests and completing them.
As you continue completing and accepting new quests you will be led to Frerin's court. The court lies to the west and down the mountain. The court will be your final set of quests before leaving the instance.
The final quest will be from Dwalin. Make sure you do all of the other quests before this one. Once you finish the final quest you will finally be able to fully explore Middle Earth, but cannot return to the introduction instance.

Men and Hobbits:
If you choose to be a man/woman or a hobbit you will start out in a little village called Archet. Use your map (press the "m" key) to get your bearings and a feel for north/south/east/west.
Your first order of business is to accept all available quests in town. Use your quest tracker and quest log to help find the locations for completing the quests. You will start out killing some wolves just outside of town. Just keep accepting quests, completing them, and getting new quests. This will lead you through the instance.
The final quest will be given by Jon Brackenbrook in the Hunting Lodge. Make sure you do all of the other quests before this one. Once you finish the final quest you will finally be able to fully explore Middle Earth, but cannot return to the introduction instance.
Hopefully my LOTRO leveling guide made the introduction instance easy for you. Once you've completed the instance, you're ready to explore the first areas available in The Lord of the Rings Online... level 6 to 15 in the starter zones!

Levels 6 to 15 In the Starter Zones

In this part of the LOTRO leveling guide you are ready to see the open world in Middle Earth. I will point you to the easiest locations for quests. Once you finish the introduction instance you will begin at your starter zone, which depends on which race you happen to have chosen. I advise you to follow the order to complete quests as shown. Based on my experience it is the best order to quest for the fastest leveling. It is of course your game time, so feel free to do any and all quests in any area and order you like!

For this level range you will be questing in the following locations. The information in parentheses is (region, level range of quest).

• Thorin's Gate (Ered Luin, 6 - 8)
• Celondim (Ered Luin, 6 - 8)
• Noglond (Ered Luin, 6 - 10)
• Duillond (Ered Luin, 9 - 10)
• Combe (Bree-land, 8 - 10)
• Gondamon (Ered Luin, 10 - 15)
• Staddle (Bree-land, 12 - 14)

Important Note - I highly suggest that you DO NOT do any of the crafting quests you see. They have a ring with an anvil in the middle of it. In the quest log these quests are under the crafting group. Crafting quests are an enormous waste of time. Unless you are really into crafting and aren't concerned with leveling quickly, I'd steer clear of crafting quests.

Important Note - I highly suggest that you DO NOT waste time on the "epic" line of quests. If they happen to be on your way or you really want to see the story, then you it is of course your choice. I would not go out of my way for them though. They tend to waste a lot of your time running around and are not the most efficient way to level up.

LEVEL 6 to 8

Thorin's Gate (recommended)
I recommend starting to quest in Ered Luin at Thorin's Gate. This is an easy area that flows nicely in your leveling progression... especially if you follow the LOTRO leveling guide closely. Grab all of the quests in Frerin's Court... kind of like in the introduction instance. There is also a quest or two on the stairs going up to Thorin's Hall. Do as you did in the introduction. Pick up a group of quests, complete them, and turn em' in. Do this until there are no more quests in this area. You should be around level 8 when you are done.

Traveling to Thorin's Gate
Here is how to get to Thorin's Gate for from the starter zone for each race:

Dwarves
The dwarven race starts out in Frerin's Court again - no need to travel for ye' good dwarf! You can pick up the quests in the court and also visit Thorin's Hall to the north. Thorin's Hall is one of the major cities for crafting, auction hall, etc. You'll likely be back here a lot.

Elves
Elves start out in Celondim. For elves you can complete all the quests in Celondim and then go to Thorin's Gate. If you go to Thorin's now you'll likely just be coming back later. To get to Thorin's Gate from Celeondim go to the stable master by the docks. Choose the Thorin's Gate - Swift Travel option.

Men
If you chose to be a Man or Woman, you will start out in Archet like before. I never really liked this area for some reason, so I suggest hot-tailing it out of there ;) Take the path south out of town. Follow it all the way to the next town called Combe. You will see a stable master pretty quickly as you enter town. Talk to the stable master and choose the Thorin's Gate - Swift Travel option.

Hobbits
Nice Hobbitses begin in Little Delving a little way north of Michel Delving. I dislike questing in the Shire and recommend getting out of there quickly! Follow the path out of Little Delving south to Michel Delving. Continue along the path south. You will pass through the town center to the stable master and choose the Thorin's Gate - Swift Travel option.


Celondim (recommended)
If you are following the LOTRO leveling guide, you have completed the quests in Thorin's Gate. I would now travel to Celondim and complete all quests there. This will put you around level 8 - 10 and leave you well prepared for the next areas. In Celondim there are a couple quests to grab near the docks. You then proceed up the hill to a place called Nen Hilith. After completing all the quests in these areas you should be around level 8 - 10.

Traveling to Celondim
To travel quickly to Celondim, go to the stable master just west of Frerin's Court at Thorin's Gate. Use the Celeondim - Swift Travel option. Don't bother trying to save gold by running there ;) It's not worth the time... trust me!


Archet and Michel Delving (optional)
You can complete quests in Archet and Michel Delving/Waymeet/Hobbiton for this level range if you wish. I personally avoid the Shire for leveling, so it is optional in the LOTRO leveling guide. The quests there are very spread out and time consuming because of all the running around. However, if you like exploring, enjoy the story, or want to work on deeds as you go then you may want to hit these locations up now. Otherwise, I'd move on to the level 8 - 10 part of the LOTRO leveling guide.

LEVEL 8 to 10

You should now be ready to move on to a couple of new areas. I recommend going to Noglond and Duillond. The LOTRO leveling guide will make these areas easy if you follow it in the order shown.

Noglond (recommended)
In Noglond you will get a great bunch of quests to complete in the surrounding area. Complete all of these and you'll be around level 9 - 11.

Traveling to Noglond
To reach Noglond you have two choices: a stable master or traveling by foot. I'm lazy so I like to take the horse! Either way you need to be back in Frerin's Court at Thorin's Gate. If you don't remember how to get there, find any stable master and choose Thorin's Gate - Swift Travel. Once at the Thorin's Gate stable master, talk to the stable man again and choose Noglond.


Duillond (recommended)
Duillond will give you a few more quests in the 9 - 10 range. Complete these and you should be around level 10 - 12. Remember if you are going to follow the LOTRO leveling guide closely it will help to stay very close to the suggested level. If you are not at or above the shown level, you may want to go grind some deeds for xp!

Traveling to Duillond
To get to Duillond it is easiest to go back to Thorin's Gate - by horse or on foot whatever you prefer. At the Thorin's Gate stable take the Celondim - Swift Travel option. Once you reach Celondim you can either take another horse to Duillond or follow the path north until you reach it.


Combe (optional)
You will likely not need to complete the quests in Combe, but it has some good quests if you need to catch up in levels. If you complete the quests in Noglond and Duillond you should be able to skip this area.

Traveling to Combe
Combe is back near Bree town, just south of Archet.


LEVEL 10 - 15

Gondamon, Thrasi's Lodge, and Haud Lin (recommended)
Now is the time to venture deeper into Ered Luin. Your destination is a fortress of old called Gondamon. Gondamon has a large number of quests to pick up. Make sure you get them all. There are a few right when you enter and more located up on the higher levels of the fortress.

Also near Gondamon are Thrasi's Lodge and Haud Lin. Once you've picked up all the quests in Gondamon I would head two those two places and grab the quests there. Most of the quests are in the same areas so it is more efficient to get all the quests first.

Once you complete all the quests in Gondamon, Thrasi's Lodge, and Haud Lin you should be around level 14 to 15.

Traveling to Gondamon
To reach Gondamon you need to be in Noglond or Duillond. At one of these locations go to the trusty stable master and choose the Gondamon option. If you're penny pinchin' or the option is not available (or you want to walk to Gondamon) I recommend starting from Noglond. At Noglond follow the path south and east. Just stay on the path and you'll walk right to it.


Staddle (optional)
If you haven't quite reached level 15 I recommend heading to Bree-land and completing the quests in Staddle. Staddle is a small village just north of the main town of Bree. You may not need to do this set of quests, but I usually do them myself. Staddle has a good set of quests that will take you further north to the Midgewater Marshes. There is also a ranger camp in the marshes that you'll visit during your questing.

After completing all the Staddle quests you will be level 15 - 17. I highly advise you to quest in Staddle if you're not level 15 - 17. It will make the LOTRO leveling guide much more effective if you stay in the suggested range.

Traveling to Staddle
To reach Staddle go to Thorin's Gate or Celondim. Once there, take the good ol' stable master to Bree. When you arrive at the Bree west gate, follow the path on the map to Staddle. When in doubt keep heading north!
At this point in the LOTRO leveling guide you should be ready to finish up the higher level areas in Bree-land. Congrats so far... See you over in the nest section of the LOTRO leveling guide!

Levels 15 to 22 In Bree-land

Now that you're finished following the LOTRO leveling guide through the starter zones you will be ready to take on the higher level areas in Bree-land. The LOTRO leveling guide will take you to:



• The Stone House (14-15)
• Andrath (15-16)
• Adso's Camp (16-18)
• Saeradan's Cabin (18-20)
• The Barrow Downs (18-21)


Traveling to Bree
The best place to begin is at the town of Bree. If you're not already in the area, head to the nearest town. From Ered Luin go to Celondim or Thorin's Gate and take the West Bree - Swift Travel option. From the Shire go to Michel Delving and take the same option at the stable master.



LEVEL 15

The Stone House (recommended)
This is the first place to begin in Bree-land. You only get a couple of quests to start out, but when you turn them in more open up. As always, grab up the quests and complete them all.

Traveling to the Stone House
To begin the quests at the Stone House, head west out of the West Gate of Bree. You will quickly come to a crossroads, the Greenway Crossing. If you go over a bridge then you've gone too far! At the crossroads, take the north road. Follow the path and you will come to a house... the Stone House... Here you will find a dwarf and Chief Watch Grimbriar.



LEVEL 15 - 18

Andrath (recommended)
This area is a little tricky for people to find for some reason. It has a great bunch of quests and you will likely finish your brigand slayer deed if you haven't already. Make sure you finish all the quest lines at the Stone House first. Chief Watch Grimbriar gives the Andrath starter quest when you finish there.

Traveling to Andrath
To reach Andrath head south on the same road that goes by the Stone House. You will follow this road for quite a long way. Make sure you take a look at the map and screenshots if you have a hard time finding the little hidden camp. You must go up the hill on the left and run along a small ledge to get into the camp. If you've gone through the archway and run into a bunch of brigands... you've gone a little too far! :)

Adso's Camp (recommended)
Ahhhhhh Adso's Camp... this quest hub will take you into the Old Forest and north for some boar and bear slaying. Enjoy!

Traveling to Adso's Camp
This camp is easy to find. Just head west on the road out of Bree and you'll pass right through it.
LEVEL 18 - 20

At this point in the LOTRO leveling guide there are two locations for questing. You can complete quests at Saeradan's Cabin or the Barrow Downs. I advise going to Saeradan's Cabin first for the most efficient, natural flow of quests.

Saeradan's Cabin (recommended)
This location has some great rewards and you'll be fighting a lot of orcs. You should finish up, or be close to finishing, your orc slayer deed if you complete all of the quests here.

Traveling to Saeradan's Cabin
To reach Saeradan's Cabin head north on the road that goes by the Stone House. You will pass Thornley's Worksite on your left as you travel. Saeradan's cabin will be a little off the road on the right (east side).


Barrow Downs, Old Forest Camp (recommended)
This location has some nice, easy quests to get you acquainted with the nasty undead creatures found in the Barrow Downs. Here you will get a good start on the barghast slayer deed among others. I would kill all barghasts you see as you quest to help make this deed easier to finish.

Traveling to the Old Forest Camp
To reach the camp you can go two different ways. One entrance is found starting at Adso's Camp. From Adso's you will head south on a path. Follow the map and work your way through the Old Forest to Tom Bombadil's house. Once you reach Tom's house take the path north by the house and follow it to the camp. You can't miss it... well maybe you can! :D

The other entrance is found closer to the Bree West Gate. Follow the path west out of Bree until you see some ruins to the left (south). Head south by the ruins and up the hill. Along the ridge you will find a path that leads through a pass into the Barrow Downs. There is a body on the ground here that will open up a quest when you reach the Old Forest Camp. From here use the map to make your way west through the Barrow Downs. You will eventually reach a path that leads to the Old Forest Camp.



LEVEL 20 - 22

There are two locations for this level range. One is in the Barrow Downs, where you will likely be already. The other is far north of Bree at the Hengstacer Farm. To make the LOTRO leveling guide most useful I recommend finishing the Barrow Downs quests. Avoid the Hengstacer Farm unless you really want to waste some time. The Hengstacer Farm area has a few quests that require a LOT of running around. I don't think it was worth the time and effort. But if you like exploring...

Barrow Downs, Dead Man's Perch (recommended)
This section of the LOTRO leveling guide will help you through a somewhat challenging area. The quests found at Dead Mans Perch take you to the southern end of the Barrow Downs where you will run into some elites and higher level mobs. Follow the quest tracker in game and avoid getting into fights with more than 2 mobs at a time. If you journey carefully and pay attention to your pulls, this area will be no problem. If you find yourself having a tough time, think about getting into a fellowship with one or two players. Also, if you're struggling and prefer soloing, you may want to look at getting some crafted armour at the auction house or by making it yourself.

Traveling to Dead Man's Perch
This location is pretty easy to find. Just head southeast from the Old Forest Camp and you'll run right to it. If you find yourself running up a path that goes up a steep ridge you are too far south.


The Hengstacer Farm (optional)
As I said earlier, I don't usually waste my time here. The quests are ok but they are spread out all over. You will end up running all over the north east area of Bree-land, called Nen Harn, for a few quests. It is scenic and kind of cool to explore if you're into that sort of thing. If you want to optimize your leveling though, I would skip this area and move on with the LOTRO leveling guide.

Traveling to the Hengstacer Farm
From the Bree West Gate head north on the path by the Stone House. A little way past Saeradan's Cabin you can turn northeast. You'll find a path that goes to the farm.



At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should have made it to level 21 - 22. You will now be ready to move on from Bree-land and start exploring the Lone-lands and the North Downs. These are two really great zones that I always enjoyed leveling through. I'll see you over in the Level 22 - 32 part of the LOTRO leveling guide!

Levels 22 to 32 In the Lone-lands and North Downs

Once you finish following the LOTRO leveling guide through Bree-land you will be ready to take on the Lone-lands and North Downs. The LOTRO leveling guide will take you to:



• The Forsaken Inn (Lone-lands, 22-24)
• Trestlebridge and Amon Raith (North Downs, 21-24)
• The Eglain Camp and Iorvinas (Lone-lands, 24-25)
• Gatson's Farm and Esteldin (North Downs, 25-26)
• Ost Guruth (Lone-lands, 26-28)
• Lin Giliath and Esteldin (North Downs, 26-28)
• Othrikar (North Downs, 28-30)
• Dol Vaeg and The Tornstones (Lone-lands, 29-30)
• Dol Dinen and Esteldin (North Downs, 30-35)
• Agamaur (Lone-lands, 30-32)


LEVEL 22 - 24

For this level range you have some choices. The Forsaken Inn or Trestlebridge and Amon Raith. For the best use of the LOTRO leveling guide and leveling I would hit the Forsaken Inn first, then move on to Trestlebridge.


The Forsaken Inn (recommended)
This location has a great set of quests. Make sure you grab all of them inside and outside of the inn. You will be questing in the areas both south and north of the inn. To the south is an area full of goblins and the north has a few orc camps. These are both great areas for quests as well as completing the orc and goblin slayer deeds. Deeds aren't covered in this LOTRO leveling guide, but it's something to think about.

Traveling to the Forsaken Inn
To reach the inn begin at the town of Bree. You'll need to make your way to the south gate, which is near the auction hall. Assuming you have never been to the Forsaken Inn before you will have a fairly long walk ahead of you. Follow the path out of the south gate. Just simply stay on the path heading east. You will skirt the southern edge of the Midgewater Marshes as you travel. If you just follow the path you'll run right to the Forsaken Inn - you can't miss it. Make sure you talk to the stable master there so you don't have to run all the way again!


Trestlebridge and Amon Raith (recommended)
The quests in this area never seemed to flow quite right... but they are good for quickly leveling so I recommend them in the LOTRO leveling guide. I usually like to grab all of the quests in Trestlebridge first. Next I work my way towards Amon Raith, questing along the way. For some reason Amon Raith's quest line starts at level 21, so I work those first. After that, it's the usual process. Complete all the quest lines in both areas as fast as you can!

Traveling to Trestlebridge and Amon Raith
To reach Trestlebridge start from the Bree west gate. If available feel free to take a horse from the stable master. Otherwise follow the road north. You can't miss it, just stay on the path. You'll pass Thornley's Worksite on the left and the orc camps in the north as you go. When you pass through an archway and see all the crafting vendors you've made it ;) Make sure you talk to the stable master so you don't have to run again!

To get to Amon Raith you head north and a bit east out of Trestlebridge. If you follow the road north out of Trestlebridge you can follow it to the point where it makes a T. Take the right hand road just before the Fields of Fornost. You'll see Amon Raith off to the left (north) on a large hill.



LEVEL 24 - 25

Here you will again have two areas to grind through: The Eglain Camp and Iorvinas. If you are sticking to the LOTRO leveling guide, the Eglain Camp is the first place you will want to go.


The Eglain Camp (recommended)
This camp will have you questing in the deeper, more dangerous, areas of goblin infested Minas Eriol south of the Forsaken Inn. You'll also get to play with some pretty big spiders ;) Be careful in these areas. They are mostly elite mobs. You'll want to group up or be patient and make well planned pulls. Similar to the Barrow Downs, you may want to group up. If you're a solo player then you may want to make sure you have some good weapons and armour.

Traveling to the Eglain Camp
To reach the camp follow the ridge line near the path going from the Forsaken Inn up to Minas Eriol. Don't go up the path, just follow the ridge east. Away east you'll see what looks like a path or dry creek bed coming out of a break in the ridge. Head up that way and you'll see the camp.


Iorvinas (recommended)
After finishing up at the Eglain Camp, it's time to follow the LOTRO leveling guide to Iorvinas. You'll find a dwarf outside of a door and a few more inside. Grab up all the quests from the dwarf and also from inside the cave. As usual, complete all the quest lines. This area is pretty easy if you watch your pulls.

Traveling to Iorvinas
Finding the cave is fairly straightforward. Just take off in a northeastern direction from the Eglain Camp. Iorvinas is just a little south of the great east road.

LEVEL 25 - 26

At this point in the LOTRO leveling guide you will be heading to the Esteldin area. Esteldin has a ton of quests. I strongly suggest that you do only the quests in this level range. You'll find you have a great deal of quests after you complete the level 25 - 26 quests. If you do all of them now you will not optimize your leveling. Follow the LOTRO leveling guide and you'll level more quickly. It's a bit of a pain traveling back and forth between the North Downs and the Lone-lands, but it works out best in the end.


Gatson's Farm and Esteldin (recommended)
This location has a few quests to pick up. Before working them make sure you go to Esteldin and pick up all of the quests there. A few quests from Esteldin will take you to the same areas needed for the Gatson's Farm quests. Picking them all up first is more efficient.

Traveling to Gatson's Farm and Esteldin
To reach Gatson's Farm head to Amon Raith by foot or on a horse. From Amon Raith follow the road east. The road winds a bit north, but just stay on it. You will eventually reach a bridge over a river. Pass over the bridge and continue east on the road. You will see some farms and a house to your right. That is Gatson's Farm.

Finding Esteldin is easy from Gatson's Farm. Basically head east. As you get close to the mountains you'll see a break in them. This is the entrance. If you find yourself surrounded by lots of spiders and webs... you are too far south!


Mincham's Camp (optional)
This location has some fellowship quests. I personally don't waste my time on them, but as always feel free to do them if you like!

Traveling to Mincham's Camp
The camp is found by following the path out of Trestlebridge to the north. If you stay on the path you will come to the camp on your left up on a hill. It is found as you reach the Fields of Fornost.



LEVEL 26 - 28

Ready for some more traveling? You can quest in Ost Guruth or Lin Giliath and Esteldin. I suggest traveling to Ost Guruth first. If you don't you may out level some of the quests there. Yes yes... once again if you stick to the LoTRO leveling guide a bit of travel will actually make your leveling quicker!


Ost Guruth (recommended)
Here you'll be heading back to the Lone-lands to quest. You'll be going to the main city, Ost Guruth. Ost Guruth has some great quests packed very close together so you'll level up quickly.

Traveling to Ost Guruth
To find Ost Guruth follow the great east road from the Forsaken Inn. Just keep following it east all the way past Iorvinas. Off to your left you'll see a fortress on a hill. That's Ost Guruth. Make sure you grab the stable point!


Lin Giliath and Esteldin (recommended)
Do you know what time it is? Yep, time to travel again! You need to make your way back to Esteldin. Similar to Gatson's Farm, you will want to pick up the quests in Esteldin if you haven't already, and then head to Lin Giliath. There is some overlap in where you'll be questing to this will make it more efficient.

Traveling to Lin Giliath
Reach Lin Giliath by following the road that goes south just to the west of Esteldin. As you follow it south you'll come to an area with some ponds and Elf ruins. Lin Giliath is in the elf ruins.



Level 28 - 30

Now you're ready to hit up Othrikar, Dol Vaeg, and the Tornstones. If you're following this LOTRO leveling guide you're probably already in the North Downs, so I would hit Othrikar first... unless you haven't had enough fun going back and forth yet!


Othrikar (recommended)
The dwarves are in trouble as usual and need your help! I always enjoyed the quests here for some reason. Most of the quests are in a tight area so it makes for fast leveling.

Traveling to Othrikar
To reach Othrikar head north on the road just west of Esteldin. You'll reach a large mountain to the left. The path curves around it taking you into the fortress.


Dol Vaeg and The Tornstones (recommended)
Time to wrap up the "easy" areas in the Lone-lands. Dol Vaeg will take you questing in the undead city of Nan Dhelu. The giant kind at the Tornstones will send you south into the marshes of Harleog. There are loads of trolls and undead here... happy hunting and enjoy!

Traveling to Dol Vaeg and the Tornstones
Getting to both locations is pretty easy. They are very close to Ost Guruth. Dol Vaeg is east of Ost Guruth on the top of a large hill. If you stay out of the swamp east of Ost Guruth and run along the ridge above you'll run right to it.

The Tornstones are pretty much straight south of the main entrance to Ost Guruth. Run south and cross the east road. You'll head up a hill and see some Stonehenge-ish looking stones... that's your destination!



Level 30 - 32

Finally it's time to wrap up these zones. You have a choice here. If you want a challenge you can quest in Agamaur and Dol Dinen. As usual with this LOTRO leveling guide, if you are more interested in leveling quickly and easily I would skip these areas. Just finish the Esteldin solo quests.


Agamaur (optional)
This area is full of elites and some fellowship quests. They aren't worth time if you're into power leveling, but I actually like them so it's up to you. You'll definitely want to group up in here or you may not have much fun. ;)

Traveling to Agamaur
Get to Agamaur by heading north through the marshes by Ost Guruth (Haragamar). There is a pass through the mountains in the north/west corner of the marsh.


Esteldin (recommended)
Now you'll be questing on the eastern side of Esteldin. The quests are kind of all over here so you'll be running around a lot. There are some quests in Dol Dinen that are solo that you can do as well. They only take you to the fringes of DD (Dol Dinen) so I would do those. You'll probably want to avoid any fellowship quests in that area unless you're looking for some group fun.


Dol Dinen (optional)
This area is kind of a pain unless you have a full group. It's full of elites, trolls, and in the deeper areas just tons of mobs. It can be a lot of fun, but not worth the time for me. As always enjoy the game in whatever way pleases you most!



At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should have made it to level 31 -32. You will now be ready to move on to Evendim and the Trollshaws. These are my favorite zones in the game. Levels 32 to 40 In Evendim and the Trollshaws

Once you finish following the LOTRO leveling guide through the Lone-lands and North Downs you will be ready to take on Evendim and the Trollshaws. Following the LOTRO leveling guide will take you to:



• Garth Agarwen (Lone-lands, 32-35)
• Barachen's Camp (Trollshaws, 32-34)
• Tinnudir (Evendim, 32-34)
• Ost Forod (Evendim, 34-36)
• Thorenhad (Trollshaws, 35-38)
• Rivendell (Trollshaws, 38-40)
• Eavespires (Evendim, 38-40)


LEVEL 32 - 34

I know this part of the guide is for Evendim and the Trollshaws, but there is one last place in the Lone-lands you can explore. If you made it up to Agamaur you may have found Garth Agarwen. This is a nice little instance where you can fight Ivar the Bloodhand, The Red Maid, and a big tree called Grimbark. This area is not recommended if you want level quickly. It is a great chance to build up your grouping and instance experience.

Whether you venture to GA (Garth Agarwen) or not, your next order of business is to head to the Trollshaws or Evendim. For the best progression and quickest leveling I'd hit the Trollshaws first.


Garth Agarwen (optional)
GA is the first "real" instance in the game. The Ivar fight used to be one of the most difficult for most people but it has been toned down in the rework for Siege of Mirkwood. Again, these are fun and good for getting experience grouping, but will greatly slow down your leveling. Avoid this area if you want to power level.

Traveling to Garth Agarwen
To find GA head north from Ost Guruth through the pass in the northwest corner of the marsh (Haragamar). Continue heading north and then work your way east when you get into the Agamaur area.


Barachen's Camp (recommended)
This is the first area to explore in the Trollshaws. There aren't too many quests but they are very easy and worth doing.

Traveling to Barachen's Camp
To get there make your way to Ost Guruth. From Ost Guruth take the great east road... well... east ;) Follow it for a looong way. You'll eventually cross the last bridge. Be sure to grab the quest from the elf standing by the far side of the bridge. Continue on the road until you pass the rez spot. Around there head south up a hill to Barachen's Camp.


Tinnudir (recommended)
To make the best use of this LOTRO leveling guide you'll need to travel to Evendim. Tinnudir has a LOT of quests so the painful road there is worth it. Get ready for some swimming too!

Traveling to Tinnudir
To reach Tinnudir and Evendim you can go a couple of ways. One way to go is from Trestlebridge. Take the road north to the Fields of Fornost. From there, head west. You'll work your way through the barrows until you find the path that leads through a pass into Evendim.

The other way is to head out from Brockenborings in the Shire. From Brockenborings head north on the path to Bullroarer's Throat. You'll enter Evendim there and pass by a town called Oatbarten. Continue on the road north and eventually you'll find yourself winding around close to Tinnudir.

LEVEL 34 - 38

Since you're probably already in Evendim (if you're following the LOTRO leveling guide) I'd continue questing there. After completing the quests in Tinnudir you will head north to Ost Forod.


Ost Forod (recommended)
This area is another great quest hub. Plenty to of quests to gain a couple levels and keep you busy for a while. Keep an eye out in town for the "bounty posters". There is one near the stable master on a building. There are a few more throughout the town that give more quests. Most people miss these... make sure you don't ;) The bounty quests end up being completed on your way to other quests and give some good xp, so they are kind of a nice bonus.

Traveling to Ost Forod
Head to Ost Forod by following the path that goes east across the bridge in Tinnudir. Follow the path as it winds its way north. At the crossroads, keep going north. The path will take you right to it. Don't forget to talk to the stable master!


Thorenhad (recommended)
Once you finish the quests in Ost Forod you need to travel back to the Trollshaws. Following the LOTRO leveling guide you'll be going to Thorenhad, the current location of Elrond's sons. This location has some quests that are a bit spread out, but worth doing.

Traveling to Thorenhad
To find it follow the great east road that took you from Ost Guruth to Barachen's Camp. Stay on the east road for a long time. Eventually you will wind your way close to Thorenhad. Use the map, but you'll know to turn north when you see a path that goes into an area with a lot of bear. Follow that path north and you'll find some ruins up on a hill with elves... that's the camp.



LEVEL 38 - 40

At this point in the LOTRO leveling guide you will be heading to Rivendell and the final location in Evendim. In Evendim you'll be swimming waaaaay across the lake! If you're in the Trollshaws already, I'd go ahead and visit Rivendell.


Rivendell (recommended)
Rivendell is a little confusing and very spread out when you first visit. It's honestly a pain, but worth doing the quests available for this level range. A couple will take you north into the Misty Mountains to get your feet wet... er snowy...

Traveling to Rivendell
Get there by following the great east road again from Thorenhad. Just stay on the road until you reach the Ford of Bruinen. Cross the river and wind your way up the path. There are a couple of dead end paths going up the slope, but you'll make it eventually. Just keep heading up the mountain and you'll get to the entrance to Rivendell.


The Eavespires (recommended)
This location has some fellowship quests and a kind of annoying quest line that takes you into some Guaradan areas. There is a lot of back and forth... poor quest sequencing in my opinion. Worth doing anyhow. I would avoid the fellowship quests that take you far south to the troll area. It's a waste of time and not worth the effort. But if you want a challenge... ;)

Traveling to the Eavespires
The easiest way I know of to reaching the Eavespires is to start-a-swimmin'. You can start from Tinnudir or Ost Forod. Head to the lake and just swim as straight as you can across the lake.


At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should be at level 39 to 40. You will now be ready to finish the last area in the Trollshaws and start questing in Angmar and the Misty Mountains! You'll also hit most of Forochel. See you over in the level 40 - 48 section of the LOTRO leveling guide!

Levels 40 to 48 In Angmar, the Misty Mountains, and Forochel

Once you finish following the LOTRO leveling guide through Evendim and the Trollshaws you will be ready to take on Angmar, the Misty Mountains, and Forochel. Following the LOTRO leveling guide will take you to:


• Ram Duath (Angmar, 40-42)
• Balin's Camp (Misty Mountains, 40-44)
• Tal Bruinen (Trollshaws, 40-45)
• Aughaire (Angmar, 43-44)
• Fail-a-Kro (Angmar, 43-44)

LEVEL 40 - 42


Ram Duath (recommended)
For this level range your only real choice is to head towards Angmar. You will be leveling in the mountain passes of the Ram Duath. The quests are pretty easy and plentiful here.

Traveling to the Ram Duath
Hopefully you are familiar with the area after all of the quests you did at Esteldin. From the east entrance to Esteldin you need to head north and slightly west. There are a few ways into the Ram Duath. Use the map to help you take the correct one, the center one. If you enter and find a bunch of worms you are too far west. If you see the hillman camps, you are too far east.



LEVEL 42 - 45


Balin's Camp (recommended)
You may have found Balin's camp when the LOTRO leveling guide took you to Rivendell. Balin's camp will have you questing the entire western region of the Misty Mountains. It's a good area even though there is a lot of back and forth running. I would forget about the fellowship quests in the giant halls. Not worth the time for power leveling, but it's your game time!

Traveling to Balin's Camp
If you haven't been there yet you need to make your way to Rivendell. From Rivendell take the pass northward. You'll be going waaaay up the mountain. When you get where the pass opens up and everything is snow covered, take a hard left. Up on the dwarven fortress is Balin's camp.


Tal Bruinen (recommended)
Ok ok... once again I know that the LOTRO leveling guide says we're questing in Angmar and such, but there is one last area to grind through in the Trollshaws. Tal Bruinen gives some great armour sets, so I would do everything there... don't be one of those newbs running around with that armour of Fem set from Angmar ;) Take the armour of the forest set here... it's much better!

Traveling to Tal Bruinen
You can find Tal Bruinen from either Rivendell or Thorenhad. You'll basically be heading to the southeast. The camp is in a secluded area on a hill south of the great east road and west of the river Bruinen.


Aughaire (recommended)
You should be ready to finish up most of western Angmar now. Aughaire has good quests with good rewards.

IMPORTANT NOTE: One piece of advice here is to do the Epic - Vol. 1 Book 6: Fires In the North quest line. You can pick it up from Aragorn at the guest house in Rivendell. Most of the quests in it will be along your way and it is required to go to eastern Angmar.

Traveling to Aughaire
Aughaire is a short distance north from the giant kind in the Ram Duath. From that camp if you just follow the northern road and stay on it you will wind your way straight to Aughaire.


Fail-a-Kro (recommended)
This area is somewhat of a continuation of the Aughaire quests. These will take you into the far northern areas of west Angmar. There and tons of orcs and Angmarim here so watch your pulls.

Traveling to Fail-a-Kro
To find the camp follow the road out of Aughaire. Stay on it and you'll run right through Fail-a-Kro.


Tyrn Lhug (recommended)
Hopefully you are sticking to the LOTRO leveling guide and haven't made it to Tyrn Lhug yet. This area is in the swamp of Malenhad. It's a fun area. I love the way it looks... the feel... the sounds... you can almost smell it ;)

Traveling to Tyrn Lhug
From Aughaire follow the road north a short way. When you reach the bottom of the hill turn east. Run east until you reach the swamps... it will be obvious when you're in the swamp! Once in the swamps head southeast. You'll run by some huge turtles just before you reach the camp.



LEVEL 45 - 48 Shop Handango for the latest in mobile apps and games for your smartphone or PDA.


Kauppa-Kohta (recommended)
Following the LOTRO leveling guide will now take you to Forochel. It used to be a bit difficult reaching level 50 when the game first came out. The addition of Forochel makes it smooth and easy. The quests are very easy and grouped well.

Traveling to Kauppa-Kohta
Reaching the first area in Forochel is kind of annoying. The best place to begin is from Ost Forod in Evendim. From there take the road out of town heading north. Just stick to the road as it winds its way through the mountain. Sooner or later you'll come out to a snowy area with a lake. Keep following the path and you'll run right into the village.


Pynti-Peldot and Janis-leiri (recommended)
The next location in Forochel has some good quests, but they are spread out all over. It's probably the worst area in Forochel for quests, so knock em' out quick and move on!

Traveling to Pynti-Peldot and Janis-leiri
From Kauppa-Kohta you need to just follow the road northwest. It winds all over the place and takes you on a ridiculously long walk through a huge glacier. It's kind of neat I suppose... but I hope you bought a horse!


Zigilgund (recommended)
This is my favorite area in Forochel by far. The quests are grouped tightly around the dwarven fortress and they go quickly.

Traveling to Zigilgund
From Pynti-Peldot or Janis-leiri follow the road westward. It is another loooong run through Forochel, but stay on it and you'll run right to Zigilgund. Oh... and if you hear people talking about "Ziggy"... they're talking about Zigilgund!


The High Pass Camp and Hrimbarg (recommended)
Time to follow the LOTRO leveling guide back to the Misty Mountains. You'll be finishing up on the eastern slopes. There's a gauradan camp in the south that can be a bit difficult, so watch out down there.

Traveling to The High Pass Camp and Hrimbarg
The High Pass can be of hard to find your first time through. Basically head northeast whatever way you choose. The only place to avoid is the way that leads to the giant halls. Follow the map and you should be ok.


Gabilshathur (recommended)
Now it's back to Angmar. Hopefully you already completed the Epic - Vol. 1 Book 6: Fires In the North quest line. If you haven't you'll need to pick it up from Aragorn in Rivendell. It is required to go to eastern Angmar.

Traveling to Gabilshathur
Gabilshathur is found by heading east from the camp at Tyrn Lhug. Just run east through the swamp staying near the southern cliffs. Far far to the east you'll find a small path going up into the mountain leading to the dwarf town.


Myrkworth (optional)
This location is ok... but for the LOTRO leveling guide I made it optional. It isn't usually required to get to level 48, but use you judgment. If you're behind on levels you'll probably want to do it. Otherwise, Suri-Kyla will have plenty of quests for you.

Traveling to Myrkworth
Myrkworth is found by following the road north out of Gabilshathur. Stick to the road and you'll make it. It lies up on the mountain on the east side of Imlad Balchorth.


Suri-Kyla (recommended)
This is the final area to knock out in Forochel. It has a good set of easy quests around the city.

Traveling to Suri-Kyla
To reach the main city in Forochel make your way to Pynti-Peldot. From there follow the road east. Just stay on that road. It will take you around the east side of the ice bay all the way to Suri-Kyla. It's quite a long run... bundle up!



At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should be at level 48 or 49. You will now be ready to finish the last areas in Angmar the Misty Mountains and Forochel! You'll also hit the beginning of the Mines of Moria expansion in Eregion. See you over in the level 48 - 51 section of the LOTRO leveling guide!


Levels 48 to 51 in Eregion

I know the LOTRO leveling guide says it's time to venture into Eregion, but there are a few more spots in Angmar, Misty Mountains, and Forochel you can keep working on if needed. They are optional, but if you haven't reached level 49 I would do them. Following the LOTRO leveling guide will take you to:

LEVEL 48 - 49


Suri-Kyla (optional)
This is probably the easiest area to reach level 49 or 50 at. I personally like to complete all the quests around here, but if you're itching to get into the Mines of Moria then it's up to you.


Goblin Town (optional)
This is a fun place to go if you like experiencing areas from the books. I usually don't waste my time in there though. It's kind of inefficient for power leveling so only do it if you want to see Gollum's cave and such.

Traveling to Goblin Town
You will find Goblin Town pretty near to the High Pass Camp and Hrimbarg. Basically head down the steep slope east of the High Pass Camp. Towards the bottom turn north. You'll find a path that goes into a cave-like area in the mountain, the Mountain's Throat. This is the main entrance.


Gath Forthnir (optional)
This is the last "easy" area for questing in Angmar. The first few quests in the quest line aren't too bad, but they become a bit painful pretty quick. I'd only do all the quests here if you really need them to reach level 49 or 50.

Traveling to Gath Forthnir
To reach Gath Forthnir start from Myrkworth. Head north on the path that goes near Imlad Balchorth. Follow the path north/northeast until you reach a small body of water. Skirt about the western edge and you'll see a path going up a steep slope to the east. Up the path lies the hidden ranger camp of Gath Forthnir.


Gwingris (recommended)


This is the beginning of your travels in the Mines of Moria area. There are a lot of quests from here on out and there is not the back and forth questing that there was earlier in the game. Have fun with the half orcs and worms!

Traveling to Gwingris
There are a couple ways to reach Gwingris, but the easiest is from Tal Bruinen in the Trollshaws. If you remember where Garbert's Cottage is, that is the direction you want to go. Across the river from Garbert's is a path that goes up a very steep slope. This way will take you right there.



LEVEL 49 - 50


Echad Eregion (recommended)
This area will be your quest hub for most of the quests in central Eregion. It should be pretty quick and easy.

Traveling to Echad Eregion
Head south and slightly east from Gwingris. When you come out of the woods with the trolls and huorns you will be pretty close.


Echad Dunann (recommended)
This will be the last real questing area in Eregion. Once you finish here you'll be ready to head into the Mines of Moria. The first book in the Volume 2 epic quest line is required to enter Moria. You'll want to start working this right away.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You'll probably want to pick up the Epic - Vol. 2 Book 1: The Walls of Moria quest line. You can pick it up from Rathwald in Echad Dunann. You will want to get to Chapter 11: Worth Beyond Measure. This chapter requires you to level a legendary weapon to level 10. If you don't get to this point before questing in Echad Dunann you may have an irritating time leveling your weapon up!

Traveling to Echad Dunann
You can see Echad Dunann on the map, but it found south east from Echad Eregion. Follow the road south to the Nan Sirannon River. There take the path east to Echad Dunann.


At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should be around level 51. You will finally be ready to venture into the Mines of Moria! See you over in the level 51 - 60 section of the LOTRO leveling guide!


Levels 51 to 60 In the Mines of Moria

Are you ready to follow my LOTRO leveling guide and endure the dark of the Mines of Moria? It's time to go in whether you are ready or not! There are a few 3-man instances at Echad Mirobel you can play with, but they are optional for this guide. If you're ready the LOTRO leveling guide will take you through the Mines of Moria to:

• Durin's Threshold (The Great Delving, 51-52)

LEVEL 51 - 53


Echad Mirobel (optional)
The Library and The School at Tham Mirdain are the two 3-man instances you can complete. I don't recommend them but wanted to include them in the LOTRO leveling guide. They can be fun but are pretty much worthless aside from killing time. There is no good loot for your efforts so I would forget about them unless you're very bored ;)

Traveling to Echad Mirobel
Mirobel can be found by following the road west from Echad Dunann.


Durin's Threshold (recommended)
Durin's Threshold is the first area you will explore in the Mines of Moria. There are only a few quests to do near here. Stick with the LOTRO leveling guide though and it will make your life a lot easier. Make sure you pick up the stable master point and do all the quests here before moving on. You won't be back for a while.

Traveling to Echad Mirobel
You will find yourself in Durin's Threshold as soon as you enter the Durin's Door, across the Black Pool where you fought the Watcher in Vol. 2 Book 1.


The Dolven View (recommended)
This is the first main questing area to hit in this LOTRO leveling guide. Aside from the 21st hall, it is the main camp in the Mines of Moria. I usually make my home here for a few reasons. First, it is the place to trade in the barter items (rusted dwarf tools and khuzdul tablets) for legendary weapons. Second, it is somewhat centrally located between the first few areas you'll be questing in.

Traveling to the Dolven View
The Dolven view is tricky to find if it's your first time in the Mines of Moria. Take a horse from the stable master. It'll save you a lot of effort!



LEVEL 53 - 54


The Chamber of the Crossroads (recommended)
The crossroads is a decent camp for quests. I don't like the area but there isn't much choice in the Mines of Moria. You kind of need to complete every quest you can at every camp. If you follow this LOTRO leveling guide closely you should have no problem leveling. The quests for the crossroads are located all over the place north and east of the crossroads.

Traveling to the Chamber of the Crossroads
There are a few ways to reach the crossroads, but I like to take the east road out of the Dolven View. Down the stairs head north and you'll make your way there. If you find yourself going across a bridge through the Dwarf-lords' Gate, you're on the right track.


The Deep Descent (recommended)
This camp is one of my favorites in the Mines of Moria. It has tons of quests and they always seemed to flow well to me. I always had an easy time completing them.

Traveling to the Deep Descent
The camp is easily found from the Dolven View. Just south of the stable master is a cavern-like opening. Head through there and you'll run right to the Deep Descent. It isn't very far, so if you don't find it quickly you probably went the wrong way!


Jazargund (recommended)
Also known as Jazzy (or something like that!); Jazargund is a pretty good area to quest. You'll find two tiers of quests here. One set for level 54 and another you'll need to come back for later around level 58 to 59.

Traveling to Jazargund
You can reach Jazargund by a couple of routes. I think the easiest is to take the winding path east of the Chamber of the Crossroads. Once you reach the 21st hall you will take the north arch. Keep heading north and you'll find Jazargund.

The other way is to head north and then east from the Chamber of the Crossroads. You'll have to make your way through the gardens and a lot of mobs. I wouldn't take this way if I were you!



LEVEL 55 - 57


The 21st Hall (recommended)
This is definitely the biggest dwarf city in the Mines of Moria. Once you reach this area you may want to make this your home unless you are a hunter. There are skill trainers, crafters, an auction house, and a bank here.

The quests here are very poorly organized in my opinion. In fact the 21st Hall and the next area, The Orc Watch, should really be done simultaneously. I strongly suggest that you follow this and the section on the Orc Watch in the LOTRO leveling guide at the same time. It's a giant pain questing here, but there is overlap between the quests from these two areas. Good luck finding your way around Zelem-melek. It's really annoying ;)

Traveling to the 21st Hall
Take the winding path east of the Chamber of the Crossroads. After a long and winding road you'll emerge right into the 21st hall. Just keep running straight east and you'll find the camp.


The Orc Watch (recommended)
As I mentioned, these quests can be done with the 21st Hall quests. There is some overlap that will save you time if you do. Regardless, these two camps are time consuming and annoying.

Traveling to the Orc Watch
This is by far the most difficult camp to reach. There is no really easy way aside from taking a horse. Generally though, head south out of the 21st Hall. Head west through The Great Hall of Durin, The Wide Halls, and The Broad Ways. Around here turn south through a passage that will take you to the Hall of Flowing Water. From here you just have to keep fighting your way south and east to the Orc Camp.


The Rotting Cellar (recommended)
This is my absolute favorite area in all of the Mines of Moria. There are a huge number of quests that are well organized. You can literally grab up a group of quests, make a lap through the Water-Works and complete them all, then run back and turn them all in. The area is also just cool to quest in.

Traveling to The Rotting Cellar
It's easiest to jump through the well in the Chamber of the Crossroads and die ;) You'll rez at the Rotting Cellar when you release. If you don't like this idea, then head out from the Deep Descent. Follow the tracks south through the Silvertine Lodes. Just keep working your way south and you'll find the entrance to the Water-Works and the Rotting Cellar.


Anazarmekhem (recommended)
This is another good area for quests. I always liked it. Kind of like the Rotting Cellar, you can grab a bunch of quests, knock em' out, turn em' in, and repeat.

Traveling to Anazarmekhem
The easiest path is from the Orc Watch. If you head down like you're going to quest in the Redhorn Lodes and then take the lowest path that opens in a large chasm going west, you can reach Anazarmekhem without fighting any mobs.



LEVEL 58 - 60


Jazargund (recommended)
Time to follow the LOTRO leveling guide back to Jazzy to finish up the rest of those quests. These will take you far east of Jazargund into the massive cave infested with merrevail.


The Shadowed Refuge (recommended)
This will be your final questing location in the Mines of Moria. It has some difficult quests, but not too bad. There are some interesting mobs down here. Just watch out for the elites and trolls. I would watch your pulls here and possibly group up.

Traveling to the Shadowed Refuge
From the Orc Watch you'll basically head east through the Redhorn Lodes. Use your map and just keep heading east. Eventually you'll make it. It's pretty obvious when you reach the Foundations of Stone. Once there, keep heading east until you have to turn south. You should see a ramp going up a slope around there. This will take you to the camp.


At this point of the LOTRO leveling guide you should be at level 59 to 60. You will now be ready to finish the last couple zones in the game... Lothlorien and Mirkwood! Congratulations on completing the Mines of Moria and I'll see you over in the level 60 - 65 section of the LOTRO leveling guide!

LEVEL 60

Congratulations on making it out of the Mines of Moria and into the light of day again! Sadly you will have a bit of reputation grinding in Lothlorien before you can go to Mirkwood. You only need "Acquaintance" standing though so it won't be too bad. If you want to get the good crafting recipes though... That's another story.


Menhem-bizru (recommended)
This is the first camp in Lorien to pick up quests at. It has a great set of quests that will help you gain reputation and experience.

Traveling to Menhem-bizru
It's not too difficult to reach. If you haven't reached the First Hall before, you will need to get around the broken bridge of Kazad-dum. It's easiest to head from the 21st Hall to the Second Hall in Nud-melek. Follow the path on the map that goes north around the great chasm. Follow it around and east to the First Hall. Then you're out. Outside just head east and you'll run right into the camp.


Echad Andestel (recommended)
This will be the last camp in the LOTRO leveling guide to work on before going into Lothlorien. I would only do enough quests here to gain enough rep to go into Lothlorien. As soon as you reach "Acquaintance" standing you can move on.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You'll probably want to pick up the Epic - Vol. 2 Book 9, Foreword: The Dark Shore quest. You can find it at Talan Haldir. Once you have access to Lothlorien and this quest you can head into Mirkwood. Kind of like in the Mines of Moria expansion, this book is required to get into Mirkwood.

Traveling to Echad Andestel
Follow the path southeast along the Mirrormere to Nimrodel. Where the rivers cross head north and you'll be in the camp.


Talan Fanuidhol (optional)
If you want to gain another level before entering Mirkwood or need to grind reputation for crafting, I would hit this location first. It at least has some normal quests up in the northwest pocket of Lothlorien with orcs and goblins. Still, most of the areas in Lothlorien are optional for the LOTRO leveling guide.

Traveling to Talan Fanuidhol
Head a short way northeast from Echad Andestel to location 12.1 S, 71.1 W.


Cerin Amroth (optional)
Same thing here... only quest here if you need reputation or need to level. Here begins the most annoying section of Lothlorien. It seems like a lot of simple running around and gathering type quests. I would grab all the quests here and then move on to the next two locations. It is easiest to get all quests from all locations and then to complete them. There is some overlap in where you'll be going so it helps speed things up.

Traveling to Cerin Amroth
Cerin Amroth is almost straight east from Talan Fanuidhol at location 11.9 S, 67.8 W.


Imlad Lalaith (recommended)
This is the location you'll go to when you're ready to venture into Mirkwood. If you're following the LOTRO leveling guide, you will talk to Braiglinn and then take the boat by Calengoth. Once you do this you'll be taken into Mirkwood. There are also a couple quests here for the reputation grind if you are into that sort of thing ;)

Traveling to Imlad Lalaith
The easiest route is to follow the path on the southern edge of the Celebrant from Echad Andestel to location 17.3 S, 64.0 W.


The Vinyards of Lothlorien (optional)
Here is another location for some rep grinding quests. There is also a crafting area with some reputation locked recipes. These quests are not required in the LOTRO leveling guide.

Traveling to The Vineyards of Lothlorien
The vineyards are just south of Imlad Lalaith at location 18.5 S, 63.8 W.



LEVEL 61 - 62


Echad Sirion (recommended)
This is the first camp you'll be at in Mirkwood. You arrive here after taking the boat by Calengoth in Lothlorien. I would do all the quests here in the book series and those expedition quests as well. Once you've finished the book quests here, you'll have another set of quests here outside of the book instance.

Traveling to Echad Sirion
Take the boat in the docks of Lothlorien by Calengoth at location 17.6 S, 64.6 W.


Echad Glamodud (recommended)
This is a small camp with a group of quests that will take you south into some orc and warg camps. This will kind of be how things go in Mirkwood... find a quest camp, knock out the quests and move on.

Traveling to Echad Glamodud
This camp is found southeast of Echad Sirion at location 16.5 S, 60.3 W.



LEVEL 62 - 63


Echad Mothelen (recommended)
Here is an area that will have you questing in a spider den, bat cave, and orc camps. Keep pluggin' along!

Traveling to Echad Mothelen
Following the road east from Echad Sirion, head to the Dourstocks. The camp is north of the road at location 13.5 S, 58.1 W.


The Haunted Inn (recommended)
This is a larger quest hub. You'll be fighting the undead and merrevail here. There are some good pieces of jewelry and such inside the inn you can get for the barter items. Make sure you get the stable point!

Traveling to The Haunted Inn
Head pretty much straight east from Echad Mothelen. The inn is at location 13.4 S, 56.2 W.



LEVEL 63 - 64


Estolad Mernael (recommended)
This camp is your main base for the quests in the swamps... the Drownholt. There is another stable master here to pick up. Otherwise it's the usual, knock out quests and move on.

Traveling to Estolad Mernael
Head south and slightly east from The Haunted Inn to location 16.9 S, 54.7 W.


Ost Galadh (recommended)
At this point in the LOTRO leveling guide you'll be questing in Emyn Lum. The stronghold at Ost Galadh has a stable master, vault, skill trainers, and a lot of reputation barter merchants. Later on when you get the Medallions of Dol Guldur and such you will trade them in here. At the stable masters this location is called Emyn Lum.

Traveling to Ost Galadh
Follow the main road that goes east from Echad Sirion to Emyn Lum. The fortress is found at location 14.4 S, 51.1 W.



LEVEL 64 - 65


Iavassul's Watch (recommended)
This camp will have the quests for the orc camps in Taur Morvich. This area is not too bad but you can get into trouble if you're not careful or have bad gear ;)

Traveling to Iavassul's Watch
The camp is just to the south of Ost Galadh at location 16.4 S, 50.5 W.


Ivorel's Camp (recommended)
Ivorel's Camp will have most of the quests in the spider infested Scuttledells. There are also some undead in the barrows there. Watch out for the gaunt-men!

Traveling to Ivorel's Camp
Ivorel's Camp is a little ways north of Ost Galadh, just inside the Scuttledells at location 12.8 S, 50.7 W.


Thangulhad and Dol Guldur (recommended)
Congratulations... you've made it to the final area! Things get a bit more challenging here... as expected. In Thangulhad there are some easier quests to get closer to level 65. There are also some repeatable quests that will give you the barter items for the reputation traders. I personally wouldn't waste much time here even though I've recommended it for the LOTRO leveling guide. You'll want to move into Dol Guldur and start doing Sword Hall runs and Sammath Gul runs if you're interested in getting the 120 radiance gear and second age weapons. Sammath Gul drops the Symbol of Celebrimbor which is required for crafting second age weapons.

Traveling to Thangulhad and Dol Guldur
From Ost Galadh head east on the road again. You'll eventually run right to Thangulhad in Gathburz at location 12.8 S, 46.4 W.

To reach Dol Guldur take a horse or head southeast from Thangulhad. You'll want to head around to the southeast corner outside of the fortress walls. Here you'll find a camp with a stable master, summoning horn, and quests.
