DayZ (Mod)
So NoMaD and I have started setting up a base and getting things ready for more players to join and get involved easily. If you have ARMA II Operation Arrowhead, you can play by getting DayZ Commander and installing the mod that way. We are on ZA5 - a private hive, nice customisations to the server, active admins and always a decent amount of players on. To link up with us all you need to do is figure out where you spawned on the coast, find some basic gear and call for a pickup!
Once together we can gear you up with a nice gun and find the other essentials you need to get up to speed quickly. So far we have a couple tents, decent gear, two cars and we're working on a UAZ and Helicopter. Would be awesome to raid with you guys! Our last campsite got raided so we moved to a more remote and secure location, you can't just run there easily when you spawn. We are thinking about hiding a vehicle near the coast though to speed up getting back to base if someone happens to die.
We have to check in with the tents every seven days just to keep them active. Go to dayzdb.com for a loot map and to orient yourself. Hopefully we will see Phatso, Dry and Ecko soon (thats 5 all in all). Who else has ARMA or is considering getting it? The standalone has been pushed back indefinitely and with two developers in jail in Greece, I think a purchase now isn't a bad idea at all. Steam have a cheap 200 buckish package running at the moment, but be prepared for a 15gb download!
Well worth it in my opinion, the real headache has been dealt with for you so you can expect happy bambi and bandit times! Really recommend guys try this game out, it's insanely addictive, fantastically immersive and has ridiculous depth. Not only is there real ballistics, weapons and vehicles but there is a weather system, phases of the moon, navigatable stars and much more to sink your teeth into! If you have no idea what to expect, watch some FrankieOnPc1080p on youtube, great channel.

So our base was raided lol. Nomad and I were killed in base. Phats you can log in and see whats left but I think its gone. All after some pretty intense Sunday afternoon missions to the nearby airfield, saw two cars moving in and a Little Bird spawn. We followed and Phatso got two guys, then we left to get fuel.
Nomad was holding overwatch of the Bird alone but it was flown very leetly away. They must have been a hive because soon after he was hunted and a Huey was operating the area, it must have spotted our base and sent in the troops to strip us of our vehicles then come back later for the loot.
Welcome to DayZ. Numbers and time to play can seriously count in your favour. I can't play for another two weeks or so, exams. So if anyone wants to have a crack at establishing a base go for it. Who knows it seems wherever you set up a base you will be hit by a hive eventually.
Maybe the answer for a small team of guys is just to go bandit and operate from log out to log out. However that means there's very little recovery from death and potential to upscale your operation. You're also bound to the team mates around you so you have to play when they do or end up dispersed.
You can't place tents anywhere in the South and you can't place them near any airfield. Guys all know about the major landmarks and tendency to put bases along the edges of the map. They also can't be in a clearing of any sort, it has to be an arb and heavily wooded area.
Also need a nearbyish road of some sort so you don't have to ride for 30min off road at 5km/h just to get in and out. On top of that, you need to put in a place where no lone soldier has a right to be moving between loot or vehicle spawns. Hmmm... Need ideas, anyone have any suggestions from dayzdb map?
Must say, even after loosing it all (bleak), the stories in this game are second to none. Keen to keep playing, but I need a break and we need a plan! We could have let the guys go at the airfield and perhaps avoided the trouble, but who's to say they wouldn't have spotted the base anyway. GG guys, it was fun.

Took you guys long enough to get this. Looking forward to playing with you'al when I get back. :D

Fuck you know I really wanted to check this out but I just don't have time. Unless I quit DGL I don't have time for another game. I will be looking to get the stand alone when it comes out so I can jam during the off season

I created a new survival plan... I really hope we can get a chopper going this time. We can troll or help guys out with it which should be epic end game.
I added one base, a backup base and a helo RV - each with a nearbyish vehicle RV. Hover over or click icons to see their description. You can access/edit the custom markers by following the link, use the standard grrr password. Zoom in one level and look for the custom labels and tent markers.
Any comments to improve the plan would be awesome. We could have guerilla "caches" around the map, but that sounds like a lot of work to me.

--EDIT--
Well there is hope yet. I respawned today and managed to gear up very well very quickly. I went past the tents and cleared whatever guns I could into the white car. I've moved it to the new base location and its jam packed full of gear I just don't have a tent. If you spawn in, please look for a tent or two - I can gear you with guns and medicals. There is no food or water in the car, I had to make space for guns and ammo! :P
The car also needs fuel tank parts, but otherwise it's functional. At this stage I'm not going to pick anyone up with it. It's too valuable to lose that AND all the loot I have. Maybe I'll get a tent sometime soon but my feeling is I need Nom or Phats to try because I'm going to be studying this whole week and the weekend. Message me on whatsapp if you need the coordinates. It's remote, pretty tricky to find and I'm well pleased with the aerial concealment.
Amazing a comeback like that can take only 2 or 3 hours but sometimes you can go for days not finding anything good.

I knew I should have got Arma II when the special ran... dang! Will have to wait a while for this one.

Well well well... while studying and popping in for about 5 max 30 min. each sessions: I got killed by a hostile tree while proning too close it's unmentionables, I sprinted across the map with no gear except a map and recovered everything except the ghillie suit, found an M24 and a tent and have literally hit my limit in terms of what I scan scavenge for 1 person. So many guns, one car and some basic survival stuff. Still need some medicals, tools and parts for later tents.
So far, the tent and vehicle spots are uncompromised and are damn hard to find/see. The time is ripe for young bambies to come fluttering about and collect some wicked gear so we can find some nvgs, rangefinders and even more riduculous amounts of tasty lootness. Come one come all lets have a jol (that joke works in Acasia). Nomad fix your computer, Phatso care less about work, Lee come alive, Droog stop eurotripping balls, Ecko join grrr already!
The call of Kutulu!

Haha, I just got back from Austria, fucking amazing place. Learnd how to snowboard too.
But dude how much have you been playing? cause most of the time i get such crap loot.
The few times i got some good stuff was when I caught a couple of guys off guard, and either killed them or hijacked their car. Btw, hijacking, without killing, is extremely exhilarating.
Oh and, we were driving through the small towns in the Czech Republic last week, and pretty much everything I saw reminded me of dayz's map. From the road signs to the deer stands. So strange.

Hahaha nice... we have been playing just a bit now and then. We're using the loot map and the server restarts four times a day so its easy to get in first before everyone else loots stuff if you're quick about it. Our camp is still there and its in proximity to good loots, but Phats and I died today whilst searching for parts for the car. Yes we lost the car too. Ambushed by M107, poor Phats got dropped in the drivers seat before he knew what was happening.
I managed to kill Bezerker when he tried to rush me. Not seeing anyone close, I thought I might be able to get in the car and get away and perhaps come back for Phatso's loot but the moment I stepped into the car I took one to the dome piece - probably AS50 it made no sound at all. Weird bit is Bezerker died literally 5min earlier and all of a sardine he's monster geared and 2km or so up the coast with no car - in a hero skin (he's perma bandit).
Hmmm...
Nomad knows him apparently but I serious dislike the guy and will make a point of killing him if I can find him. After killing us, he rides up and down the road to the bodies from the coastal spawns waiting to troll us as bambis. Anyway whatever, YOLO > typical NSD donkeys and this is DeathmatchZ until the standalone comes and puts emphasis on actually banding together to survive the environment and make end game more cooperative.
Lee has tried a bit more now but I suspect it will be a few days before we get on again and form a squad at the camp.
