Here's My quick report after loading it this morning:

just played 5 minutes of it.

I used a Tomahawk to "knife" 10 people in a row, which animation wise felt like I was tapping someone on the shoulder with a dead fish - very bad

It's not slick @ all. The animation of characters walking and grouping and crouching - well everything is just like some KID did it in his basement rather than a pro studio

The frame rate is good, the textures and settings are pretty.

there is no destructable environment @ all.

More COD than BC2 ever was, in the almost insta die manner.

Lastly, I didn't ever get an indication or the sense of what was going on in the game, was something about a defend here thing, then I was shot and I was defending somewhere else. Didn't notice that/if we had lost the other Defensive point, no idication that the enemy were advancing - just a hollow WTF is going on feeling.

While it could be a nice distraction, I will not spend over R300 for it, so if it's R380 then I won't be buying - it feels like plastic and this is an OPEN beta. should feel purdy good by now and it certainly doesnt

*bump*

So I downloaded and installed the new MOH MP BETA (thank you WAGE). The file is 1.6GB and I downloaded it @ 600KB/s.
(i know this is a BETA.. but i am going to critique the shite out of this)

Anyways, installation went fine and I loaded the game up.

The first thing that strikes you when you start the game is the over-abundance of the turquoise-LED colour schema which I don't really like but meh. The server browser was also a bit bleh, but definitely a step up from BC2 @ launch.
There are about 15-20 SA servers, each with 24 slots. They are full 99% of the time, but I eventually managed to get in.

First things first. The game is running on a modified Frostbite engine. But where BC2 ran like KAK on my machine, this one runs super smooth @ medium/high settings. So 1 point for the game.

Then the interface / hud. You may recall me fighting with the stand @ rAge to see the interface so eventually i got to see it. Quite clean, but still too much turquoise...

Now onto the look n feel overall... It looks like BC2. *Naturally ofc, as they have the same engine. Not a bad thing, but nothing refreshing here.
Now onto the gameplay. It plays like BC2. *See above comment.

I would do a full write up but its going to get ugly...
I feel its a reskinned/semi-revamped BC2. Feels the same, looks the same, plays the same.

Things that annoyed the kak out of me... (rant list)
You die. VERY quickly. (like too quickly.. Think America's Army)
Some people know every trick in the book already and are destroying everyone (like 50 and 4 styles).
Lag.
You seem to die from any angle and the hit indicator helps in the sense that you can look in the direction your attacker MIGHT be before you die.
The unlock system and gear unlock system is linear (get 250pts with a kit, unlock extra magazine. get 350pts with a kit, unlock suppressor etc etc).
There are 3 kits.... Assault, SpecOps (AT guy), Sniper.
The game rewards camping. Stand still, get the first shot off, get the kill.
Its BC2 all over again. Except it runs smoother and looks a little different.
Killstreak rewards are super OP. Mortar strike blows you up instantly... Rocket strike blows your team instantly... Tomahawk missile blows the world up instantly...

Things that it has going for it
Its DICE. They seem to treat the BF community well.
It runs well on my machine.
There is a massive following. The servers are ALL chock-a-block.
It may be the next thing in SA if CODBO fails.

All in all, I will try play a bit more and see if things get better... But my 2c.. Its like BC2... Nothing new. Maybe a bit more fun due to smaller area's, but still BC2 essentially.

I will wait this one out and see if we get Black Ops servers before deciding. But I don't want to make the same mistake again...

Do yourself a favour... DL this and play a bit before you think of purchasing (if MP is your main concern).

yeah, I'm just tired of it.... it lacks something.
But I'm all for playing it in clannies... I prefer the planned qwality teamwork clannies than the reduculush TK, aimbot, kiddy whine general FFS public gameplay - I'm normally not phased by anything, but I think this game - since it's got a bit of a COD "seasoning" to it, has brought all the CSS and COD whiners along with it, but more than that, the new OOOooooo my mom bought me a PC so now I have an EGO and must show everyone how l33t I am coz I do stupid stuff and dont care kiddies (theres a mouthful)

I tend to agree with j0nno here. Granted, I've not been able to play any BC2 for the last few months, but I really miss it and am keen to play more next year, if there is still a league going.

There's a lot of negativity towards the game on SGS, no suprise there I suppose, but hopefully there is still a league going next year. We're just starting to get it all together as a team, it'd be sad for us to quit now.

I am far from being done with BC2. If there is another league next year, I intend to play in it. If the clan has moved on, I will offer myself as merc to another clan. Can't see any other MP games that blow my skirt up on the near horizon.

Kinda seems that if we are done with BC2, then the only real option is MoH. I wouldn't mind giving that a try.

Well, reason I mentioned it... is because it is different to the battlefield type games. Thought the difference might be nice for a while. Then I can say... ok, done that, never need to again, experiance had and now over with.

Good points guys.

I never thought of MoH having the same engine as BC2... That is the same engine that my PC does not enjoy... This is worrying to me because unless I can play a game smoothly, I'd rather not play it (the case with BC2)... Hopefully a playable demo will be available or i'll "loan" it or something.

ArmaII as mentioned will most definitely not be everyone's cup of tea. I played Arma I for quite a while and really got into it. The serious problem with it, is that getting a game together takes a while, getting your tactics together takes a while, getting to the opfor takes a while, and before you know it, its taken you 3 hours to just pull the trigger (at which point you die 15 minutes later and have to make the great trek back to your team). Don't get me wrong, its a good game. But holy shit does it take tactical FPS to a new level (so much so that it annoys the fuck out of you).
*EDIT: as pointed by Mr Dragonne*

But lets keep the convo flowing. Its good to let your opinions be heard.

ARMA2 is just too realistic for me. It's also got a very small community, who don't play the game competitively (all missions are run co-op). Sessions usually require a good few hours of play, with mission planning and exectution. It's very slow and methodical, and if you die, you're out of the game. A true simulation.

I don't think this is one for me tbh.

I've got Arma2, but have yet to play it ... maybe its time to check it out... might be good as tactical training for future games.
