Sorry guys, false start, my line seems to be FUBAR for the time being. Unable to connect online at all, not even a matter of just frequent discos. I am out till further notice.

Sounds like you guys had some fun. My Telkom line is sorted now and I will be able to participate in future games again.

A big step up from the 2 squads.

Teamwork is looking a lot better. And i think wen a order was give , it was followed and executed where possible.
The formation in Alpha squad was a lot better last night. Still a few things to sort out, but we will get it sorted out in practice.

I will work on my direction skills. But the more we play together we will start to read the player next to you a lot better.

One thing that has been said before, but i have to point it out again is: Once we ninjas past them we gave our position away by shooting at the. Body's on the point and wait for them to come to us. It seems to work for us against stronger teams. Please use cover more.

Every player plays his/her best kit. ( Murgs you can go ahead and sit on your best positions for raining the tubes. One medic will be close by at all times. The other 2 in the squad will at all time be less than 8-10 seconds away. )

I'm happy for Alpha squad to cap and the defend.

All in all we are getting better as a team. Potions is the thing. Let them come to us.

Lets try and think like the enemy...meaning think how you would approach an point for an attack. Then use that info to set up a defence.

Bring on the next leg.

Shadey said a lot of this but I typed it out already so I am posting it anyway.

I think last night was very productive. I think we just have to face facts that we will come up against teams that have better skill than us man for man (or woman).

But we truly held our own and as Lee pointed out it was just because of a few key moments that they were able to capture a flag and thereby win.

I honestly think that they got a bit of a surprise and didn't expect us to be as tough. Also too Lee's point about not engaging enemy. I am sure early on in any match we will be able to see whether or not the opposition can out gun us. If this is a case and especially with a map that has 4 flags, we just need to out cap them.

Run from one flag to the next. Chances are we might find 1 or 2 stragglers that we can take out at the flag, cap it, then move on. If we get really good at this then teams will end up chancing their own tails and not actually know what the hell is going on.

Points to work on
=======================
* Reviving
* Sticking together more

The above two go hand in hand. For most of the match we stuck together with our squads and revived each other but there were times when we floundered, this was usually when we were on the back foot. If we can work on regrouping and calming ourselves, then we will stand a much better chance of turning matches where we find ourselves in a non-favourable position. First check for enemies before reviving. At one point I got revived and gunned down 4 times before eventually lying in a pool of my own blood waiting for 15 seconds.

* communication

Much, much better guys, I don't think there was any of the hysteria in previous matches, I talked a bit more than I think I should have but I did always try wait until the right time. Lee, your orders were clear and usually spot on (awesome as always).

I think squad A also did a good job although Mikey I think I heard Murgs ask a couple of times for some direction so we might need to work on that.

Still need to (most of us, me included) cut down even more on the "Oh my god how did he do that" chatter though.

I know I haven't played in quite a while, but it really seemed like guys knew what they were doing. Really good stuff. I really liked the pre-match run through ("these are the gennies" etc). Made a very big difference for me. Ninja tactics (when I tried atleast) didn't seem to work.. I think SSG knew all the possible "routes" anyone could take and watched them closely.

Although I am sure we have a strong attacking team, BC2 seems to favour defense and holding a flag is WAY easier than attacking another. As Vovo stated, we really held our own in defense and we should work on that strength, building up from it.

I know I am really rusty and to be honest, I still haven't found my weapons of choice in the game... Will play a bit more and try get the groove back.
For me, all in all, really fun to play again in that kind of an environment and I will step up whenever needed :)

I ended up speaking to Vovo in Steam later after the game. He skeems we improved... noticeably so! He said our defensive "camping" is top notch! He really said that... top notch. So GG guys. He admired how we held back and "made" them come to us.
So lets learn and improve on this experience! "I have a feeling... woohooo"... that Leg 4 is gonna be OUR leg!

Lets DO IT! :wooty:

Post-match thoughts:

Firstly, I think we did MUCH better compared to our last experience with SSG. Hoo-aah, lads! :gun: We lost that first round by 89 tickets. That is one helluva improvement on the past - losing a match by 200+ !!
Lets keep 'gelling' and working on improving our squad play.

Things to work on (yes, its been said before - but obviously we still need to work on it):
1. TS Chatter - still a bit messy. We need to stick to the rule of no unnecessary chatter. IE Don't say "OMW, did u see that? No freekin' way he shot me from there!" -or- "Woot! Just knifed that guy!"
2. CONSTRUCTIVE TS info - use the naming we put into place to pass on location of enemy, etc... "There's a guy in that building over there" is not helpful.
3. Pre-match basics: Lets get a general idea of what we want to do. For example, after we have A & B... do we hold and defend? Does B squad be the aggressive squad and try to push for another flag while A squad defends (or vice versa). Obviously, strats in game always end up changing but we need a basic idea of what to do first. If our side is quick enough from the start - we have the element of surprise and have an opportunity to get in position to attack before the enemy sets up a proper defense.
4. SL calls - this needs to come much quicker. A couple of seconds can mean losing/gaining a flag. For example, if we are losing a flag - we need to know ASAP to spawn there and defend. Or do we spawn on a ninja to try and capture another flag? I don't mean that a SL needs to be shouting orders every 10 seconds or repeating the same order over like "Keep spawning A to defend". You can start with "DEFEND A until otherwise advised"... and Bob's your uncle.
5. Keeping squads in a closer radius. If you wander too far from your squad mates, you are not going to be able to be revived and you basically just lost a ticket for our side.
6. Defensive rule - I agree it is good to have a "forward defense" but not the whole squad! In my mind, I think a medic / assault should be forward and the other medic / Engi should be sitting on the flag itself. Too many times we bunched up in a forward position just to get flanked because we did not have a proper view of the entire approach to the flag we were defending. On a similar note - TRY to keep 1 medic with a non-medic at all times.

Personally, I'd like to hear when someone decides to go ninja. Not only do you know your squad will be 1 guy down in defending - you also won't be 'shouted' at to get back in formation! ;-) If one does go ninja, don't shoot at the enemy!

Also, only SL should be making calls. I know I was guilty of this in the one round - I did give an 'order' and should not of. I was just frustrated at having to wait for an order.
I'm a soldier that likes to know what the next step is all the time.

Overall, I actually had fun tonite and I think that in itself shows a great step forward! Thanks, grrr!! :happy2:
