Debrief

Ok, a hectic weekend, herewith a quick debrief of the events. The first to arrive was R4v3n_Z4 Thursday afternoon. He assisted me in setting up everything, including carrying the tables and the likes.

The following people participated over the weekend: Christo (Voetsek), Jacques (BadAssJack), Paul (NextCampaign), William (?), Mike (Viking), Gerald (Varkwortels), Raymond (R4v3n_Z4), Dante (Eggman), Ettienne (?), Rikus (?), Ursula (LittleBear), Tex (?), and also F34r_m3.

The following games were played (by some or by all):
- Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
- BattleField 2 Bad Company
- Insane
- Trackmania
- Crysis Wars
- Golf
- Tiger Woods
- Drift
- Age of Empires (yes, that 10 year+ old game…)

I think the game that was the most participated in was Insane, with 8 players joining Return the Flag. (the game have a restriction of only 8).

Eggman did not like the idea of having downloads interfere with his game time,as such, he brought together 2 computers, one for his games, and one for dedicated downloads (with 6TB of data).

Baring Voetsek, we all dozed off on Saturday morning from around 06:00AM to around 07:30AM. Having a flu definitely did not help. The last people only left Saturday at around midnight.

Somebody made a request that we have DC++ up and running at the next lan, this should assist some people to find and download files easier, and also from multiple sources. I could not get a hub up and running during the LAN (I too played some games you know), but I have since managed to get a local hub running which means, for the next LAN, it will be fully operational. I suggest, if you want to use that, start hashing your shares before the next LAN. Those that don’t know how it works, let me know and I could tell you.

Finally, an interesting observation, there were quite a few different rigs at the event, most of them had an intel CPU, but the real cool thing, there was JUST Samsung LCD’s. Each and every person had an LCD, and they were only Samsung ones. I should have taken a picture and perhaps get some endorsement for the next LAN from them. The most represented mice was that of Logitech (the G5) followed by Razers.

All in all, a good event with no major hiccups.
