Q: How can I update the firmware on my Lachesis if I have Windows 7?

A: The firmware update for the Razer Lachesis needs to be performed on a system running Windows XP or Vista. Be sure to have the most current drivers installed on that system prior to performing the update. Once the firmware on the Lachesis is successfully updated, the mouse should work on your Windows 7 system.

So basicaly my Razer mouse had the same problem - its a firmware issue on the mouse...

I would suggest you use a XP pc and install the driver and then follow the update guide for the firmware... if the firmware updated correctly, it should say v1.94 in the Razer App , if it does not, then do the upgrade until it does - this could take some time, took me about 3/4 tries...

Once the firmware has been updated and shows that the mouse has the latest version of the firmware, go to your Windows 7 pc.. uninstall the driver for windows 7 that you have at the moment, make sure you clean any razer software from your registry that is linked to the mouse software - you can use the ccleaner app available for free from uncle google or manual regedit for this... razer does not like software versions being overinstalled or updated..
once the software is completly removed, and the pc was restarted, install the latest version software (link above) , but dont plug in your mouse!!!! after installation , restart your pc , and only then plug in the mouse. it will install the mouse, and then check your software , it will show you that your mouse is plugged in and the new firmware is installed..

No the problem was never resolved...

I ended up unplugging my mouse and putting it away.

Sorry for reviving this thread. I have recently bought a Razer Imperator and am using it together with a Razer Goliathus pad. It's an awesome combo. This sounds to me as if it was a hardware problem. DId you ever get it sorted?

@Jules yup I have considered it since I cant seem to access their cust support on their site ....
Will see what feedback I get and post it here ....

I suggest hitting it with a shoe... really hard.
May not fix the problem, but it will certainly bring finality to the whole issue.

Next time, just buy a real mouse. You know, like Logitech, or Microsoft :D

i dont think it is a pad problem, i think it is the mouse. perhaps the lazer is loose, or something. i suggegst taking it back to where you got it from and asking them to check it.

I had a look fiddled around a bit last night and the mouse did the same with a elcheapo mouse pad ... Oh this particular razer mouse pad isnt double sided and yes I have tried both surfaces

Dude that is strange, as Fly suggests, indirectly, and without class, is that mice struggle when dealing with reflective surfaces. Did you try both sides of the mousepad? Did you try all-bran?
If the mouse ONLY struggles on that pad then its either reflective issues or texture issues.

i do in fact have an idea,
two in fact. have you checked that there isnt a bit of fluff in the way of the optics, and do you have the pad the riht way up?

have you taken the pad out of its packaging ? :p
