I just specced out a system for Daskill on SGS, complete to the point that it's ordered and he's collecting this afternoon.

Johnny, can I suggest that you give me a call this evening, and we'll see what it is you need. I can get stuff from Frontosa in JHB, so you can collect it there yourself. Looks like I saved Dasseh about 3 grand on his original estimates, hopefully I can do similar for you...

I would recommend going i7-860 rather than i5-750 though. Will cost a bit more (hopefully we can minimise that), but teh fact that it has Hyperthreading will definitely help in BC2. DICE have said that more threads are better for the new engine, and that the Hyperthreading capabilities of i7 will definitely help.

As an indication on pricing, I got him an ASUS P55 mobo, i7-860, and 2x2GB of Corsair DDR3-1600 for about R5700 inclusive.

Hi guys

So, it is maybe that time of year again and I might be looking to upgrade. It is more than likely, but nearly entirely dependent on how my macheen runs BC2's Beta.

I come to you all with an open mind for advise as I do have a decent knowledge of hardware, but no where near as good as some of you junkies ;)

Current Rig
C2D e8400i cpu
Asus P5N-D mobo
4GB DDRII 667MHz RAM
Sapphire Vapor-X 2GB 4890
XFi Fatal1ty Sound Card
Windows XP Pro

So, a mediumish specced machine that does perfectly fine with anything by todays standards.

Possible Upgrade
Intel i5
ASUS P7P55D
4GB DDR3 RAM
same GFX card
same sound card
Windows 7 Home Premium

I'd also have to buy a new case : Coolermaster 335 (link) or if I am feeling flush... Coolermaster 690 PURE (link)
And a new PSU... See how it becomes a cluster-fuck of expenses... :wow: ... So preferably, if I could get a case/PSU combo, that would be cool.

What are the pro's thoughts on the matter?
