Hey guys, so I've been thinking seriously about putting all the video skills we have in the clan to work on something epic. Really I just want to explore the possibility of doing a video like this and kick off some discussion of other cool videos we could do.
My idea is that we run a cinematographic (no hud) video that follows the heroic moments and moments of sacrifice in Battlefield, with the theme of courage and teamwork. Obviously the only suitable music is Two Steps from Hell (okay maybe something similar). The band always has long orchestric build ups that make for the most exquisite tension, into solumn and heavy drum beats, stunning silences, uplifting and heartbreaking choruses. I really feel the ebb and flow of their style offers a lot in terms of video story line.
For example we could open with some landscape and army flyby shots to set the scene and perhaps introduce some story fluff, then follow a specific soldier in his run up to battle with all the fire power around him - building suspense. The first chorus could introduce all the chaos, with the full panoply of war coming out - jets, heli's, tanks on drum beats and troops swarming. The end of the first chorus would see the death of the first character - rock paper scissors style.
The second character is introduced as the one who killed the first and follows his counter flow in the battle, watching team mates die, reviving some etc. Each chorus section introduces a new character and so the story plays out. The game could be conquest, but I feel Rush or Obliteration would really capture the tension and emotion in every glorious victory and crushing defeat. The endless to and frow runs through all the vehicles and infantry situations until it fades to black and a new map is shown.
I know it's ambitious and all, but I have a clear idea of what I want to achieve and some decent idea of how it could be shot with grrrs. I just don't have the video or editing skills to actually dive into this myself. Anyone keen on this project? Tons of sexy slo mo and some space for more videos of the like!
