"For best performance each gamer was allocated a real static Internet address – no Network Address Translation (NAT) was used. [This ensured] maximum speed and that gamers could not impact each other’s traffic"

I was wondering about the reason why we received public IP's, this explains it.

I must be honest, I had no idea that there would be free for all interwebs available to everyone, completely unshaped and uncapped. Can only imagine that ZA's internet was struggling on the weekend (this was kinda evident in the DGC area...).

Good to know that they are going in the right direction!

WTF? I have been blamed for typing too long a message, but FFS, single word messages... Does your message agree that it was a bad idea to send it on the last day of rAge, or do you agree it was a phucking awesome idea to say Thanks to IS?

Either way, this rAge ranked as one of the best eeeeevveeeeer! (apart from the rugby that we lost!)

agreed

Hi guys, as you know we had a freaken awesome LAN at rAge 2013. Now I appreciate not all of you are gamers on this weekend, but for those of us that did play, the one thing that was super impressive was the internet breakout link supplied by Internet Solutions.

For those of you that could not attend, IS supplied a 1Gbs link open to all the gamers to download anything they wanted to. This allowed us to not only authenticate our games, but also to actually play on overseas servers. The total amount of stuff downloaded was in excess of 20TB and I did a speed test on my desktop where I was able to get downloads of 30Mbs and uploads of 60Mbs. Bottom line, it was AWESOME!

Companies rarely do anything without considering the potential return. Now the only way that we will get IS to provide this again next year is if they believe they have obtained something from doing it this year. Obviously we will not all be able to switch our companies network requirements to IS, but I think it will go along way if we as clan can at the very least thank them, either as individuals or as a group. Doing that will at the very least enable them to write the cost of setting it up as a marketing PR that was exceptionally well received by the public.

To that end, I would like to recommend that we all go to our respective sources of sharing information, be it facebook, twitter, youtube, hellopeter, forums, where ever you believe we could give them maximum exposure to our gratitude, then it will be appreciated (at least for those of us that treat this weekend as a serious gaming weekend!). I've already left them compliments on hellopeter.
