Jarrod, you left out the best part of everything!!! You forgot to mention that you are now "almost" (only official when you start at AFB) an fully affiliated member of the Credit Anonymous group... I mean, all these other stuff are minor compared to that honour! Hell, he even attended his first meeting not too long ago.

On a slightly more serious note, good call, I think it is one that was overdue for you. So congrats on the big step and good luck with the new challanges. Please do remeber to call on any of the Credit Anonymous group if you ever need assistance with anything in your new job.

Up and UP - congratulations on conquering the big 'D' (depression) - I know all about this journey and it's one of the hardest there is in life, just wish there was a Medal or something once you've tackled and dealt with it.

Africa.....well, at least you're in the financial area, mine is equipment and services I suppose, my experiences doing work anywhere in Africa (admittedly East Africa is vastly better than the West, no doubt) are less than desirable, so when they let you down and frustrate you - which they will a few times - don't let it burn you back down again.

A long overdue update...

Sorry, I've neglected to provide an update on how things are going with me, and how things have changed since my initial post back in June. I thought I'd mentioned all of the details to everyone either over TS or at rAge, but reminded that I have been lax when someone asked me what was happening with our relocation plans.

Anyway, as most of you know, our plans to move to Sweden have been cancelled. Ultimately, I made the decision to relocate off the back of a very poor work situation, and a feeling of being trapped with no options in sight. This, combined with my depression left me feeling that a total break was the only way out of the situation.

Now though, it's six months later, it's summertime, the meds are working, and my outlook has changed significantly. Thanks to some good conversations with people that I trust, I was able to re-evaluate my position, and after discussion with Camilla, we decided to take our house off the market and focus on finding new work for me in Cape Town for a while before initiating relocation plans.

This worked out very very well indeed. A month or so ago I was offered a new job. The brilliant thing is that it wasn't just a job that could get me away from where I am, it is a really good opportunity for me to grow my career. And it's in Cape Town (in fact, it's even closer to home for me :) ).

So, as of the 6th January, I will be taking up a position of Credit Executive at afb. They are a credit provider, offering retail credit cards in Kenya, and soon to be expanding to Zambia. The position will entail a fair amount of travel into central Africa, but at least it's East Africa and not West...

Thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes and support over the last six months, it's been a tough time for me, but I feel that we are truly turning the corner and that things are just going to get better. My family is super happy about staying in Cape Town, and ultimately I couldn't imagine things having turned out any better.

So you're not going to get rid of me for the foreseeable future - you'll still all have your bunny to gun down in BF4...

Thanks for the update, reading what you had to say struck a cord in me and it rang deep very very deep. Facing up and looking at how things are and being able to let us know is amazing.

Like Jonathan pointed out you are like a father figure big brother all rolled into one. You actions and generosity over the years I have known you have left the most indelible impression on me. You dedication to your family is something that one can aspire to, I say this not only because I believe them but because there is a bond and connection although it be through casual gaming having shared memories with these amazing bunch of people will live for ever! "Pink fluffy unicorns and shit wif rainbows And Great Britain" to 0 Fucks will be given!

I know that you will be just a skype call or a short shout or post away and for that I am thankful. You have truly inspired me to look at my life from a different perspective. Although our experiences could never be the same, sharing them can help more people than one would think. That includes me, pretending to be ok with things on the surface might not always cut it and sometimes facing the reality of ones situation and emotional state has to be done!

I am going to take that from your honesty and your conscious effort in letting us know what was going on in your life. Thank you for that I really can't express it any other way other than getting choked up about it.

As you make your preparations know that if there's anything that you may need during this time let me know and I will do my best to assist in whatever way possible.

Sorry to hear you’ve gone through a seriously hard patch bro, but very happy to hear things are on the rise! It hasn’t been just the meds, it starts with you my guy. This means [b]you[/b] have improved your lifestyle yourself, for the better of your family. Something incredibly selfless and a standard I one day hope I can meet when I have little ones.

It does suck you leaving SA dude, really it does. You’ve been a father figure to the clan and a very good mate of mine. Your knowledge of PC stuffies and always being willing to help anyone in any situation is a testament to your character. With the help of the interwebs, I know we can stay in contact and you will most certainly still remain a core part of [grrr].

Lastly, Sweden dude. HOW F*CKING EPIC! I know its going to be tough settling in, but your missus speaks the language, you will pick it up soon, and your kids are young enough to grasp it super fast. I am sure you’ll be on your feet, running full speed in no time man. Its going to be one serious adventure, one that will only bring you and your family even closer together, which is always good.

Will chat soon dude! Chin up and know that life has a crazy way of always working out for the best, even if you encounter curve balls along the way.

Also, I am super stoked that I now know someone in one of my bucket list countries that I can just rock up at ;)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. It makes myself and those of us who have been through similar feel a bit more normal knowing we share similar experiences and it brings us closer together in a way. Thank goodness for family and friends that make life a little more worth living.

Once again, everything of the best for what you and Camilla have planned for the future and all you need to do to make it happen. Wishing you much peace and patience for when you things aren't moving along as fast as what you would like it to.

You have such a beautiful family and they and you deserve the bestest.
