Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to drop out of contention for playing tonight. The backup that I took from JHB didn't work, so I'm having to download the patch again :(

Thanks Stu we just might if Paul's download corrupted or something. I'm not banking on NoMaD showing face so we are touch and go for players. Vov says their server is sorted, so we are go for tonight. Luckily I have the afternoon off today to fool about online.

@Pmurgs I thought about what you said yesterday and my view is that it only makes sense to go out there to cap the outer flags on Bazaar when you have teams > 8. I say this because it's very hard to defend the enemy back flag when their tank spawns with a few trooplets running a long side it unless you have your entire team of 8 and your tank there. Which means a back cap of your flag is easy unless you are grinding them into their deployment with no hope of escape.

BTW both sides always have an escape down the US-RHS tunnels on Bazaar, right along the edge of the map (around E) and into the Russian deployment (and vice versa).

In my mind, its a foregone conclusion that at some point they will try to take our back flag. When it happens, teams win or lose based on their ability to recognize what is happening and counter accordingly so a stalemate is ruled out and the map "gameplay" is perpetuated. Capping outer flags can lead to out capping, but it means capping both outer flags, defending the enemy's back flag from two sides, capping B and stopping any guys from back capping your flag (stop them turning the game on its head).

If guys are defending B and get boxed in from both flags, Support should try and hold the enemy up as long as possible and everyone else just respawn at our back flag or the deployment to take back our back flag with the help of the tank, then reset and either take their back flag or move up to B to defend again. If that doesn't work, we contest our back flag and dispatch beacon boys (Vanguard holds spawn).

I believe against good opposition it only makes sense to cap their back flag opportunistically if B is too costly AND the enemy tank is engaged elsewhere. Anything else and you're just taking an unnecessary risk with precious tickets that could be used at your back flag and B. In public games you can cap it whenever you get the chance, because there's no guarantee they can push you off it even with their tank and its unlikely they will click to the fact that they HAVE to take your back flag to counter.

As with all things Battlefield, its prisoner's dilemma (game theory). If they defend B and you attack B only, it is likely they will do the same. If they defend B and you take their back flag, they have to up the ante to counter your tactics. At this stage one must understand that the first option is conservative and the second is high risk. I think good teams understand the trade-off between risk and reward, so who know's what we'll face. We just have to act in our best interest and respond appropriately.

I see capping the enemy's back flag in a 3 flag clannie as a way to weaken the team so you can take the contested flag back from them (or avoid their wrath at your deployment). I don't think it's ever worth it to defend their back flag for more than one wave if you took it opportunistically, because you're using it as a rouse to lure them out of B. For the same reason, we shouldn't fall for them doing the same trick.

So Support are fixed around B, Vanguard flanks to break defences and intercept flankers whilst Security is lurking around our back half to be first on call to sort it out and lend a hand to other squads when it does. The tank supports the defence effort and if the enemy tank is down, supports the offensive effort. Maybe I misunderstood what you said, but I think you have misunderstood me s0o0o0o0o0... Whatever. I hope this puts your mind at ease.
