Hi fly, according to my understanding, the 9800GTX+ is the same chipset just produced with 55nm compared to the 9800GTX which is produced using 65nm technology. The reduced size enable less heat thereby enable the engineers to overclock it a bit. According to this site here:

it looks like you can indeed SLI the two cards.

The only thing that will happen is the clock speed of the faster card will drop to the lowest card's. But apart from that, should be fine.

it is 9800 GTX+ (Palit, IIRC)
is it still SLi-able with your brother's GPU? i heard that they have to be exactly the same?

Mega, if Fly takes the GTX260, and he makes his 9800GTX available, then I will put my hand up for the 9800GTX and even pay Fly a fair amount for it. My brother has a 9800GTX, and with the second one from fly, I could potentially upgrade his rig to an SLI one. (since my brother can not afford any upgrades, I tend to look after his kit)

But yes, only if it goes to Fly, and only if Fly doesn't have another person that could make better use of Fly's 9800GTX.

Actually Lee he does qualify. Would be happy to swap that old card out for you Greg. Not like you are using it anyhoo looking at your BF3 game time, tsk tsk.

The 4890 beats the 260 quite comfortably. If you are having problems I would guess its more to do with CPU/RAM/Driver issues. What are your other system specs?
