Ok, I figured that somebody here may be able to help me. I am looking for a jacket / coat that satisfy the following constraints:

1. It needs to fit me, that means, 3XL or 4XL
2. It needs to at least cover my arse, preferably coming down to my knees
3. It needs to be lightweight, yet be made from rugged material (think canvass or something like that)
4. Ideally something like a hunting jacket, not cammo please

Alternatives is perhaps these examples:
1. Neo coat (Matrix)
2. Jedi Robe (Star Wars)
3. Severas Snape coat (Harry Potter)
4. Army jackets
5. Begger's coat

Now my problem is the following:
1. I am unable to find ANY place that stock these (I wonder why!)
2. When I do get jackets / coats that satisfy some of my conditions, the biggest size tend to be an XL which is WAY to small for me
3. All the beggers I've asked for don't know where they've got their coats from, and I am not too keen to buy a beggers coat from him....

So, any suggestions where I can find something like this?

Jarrod, I find that very hard to believe given the competion one faces.... I mean, Phatso, Jono, Paul, Mega, Lee, Stu.... the list is never ending...

but if you really think so, can I get an award picture with my prize?

Fly, that is the problem, the closest I've managed to get to a pattern is if you do a search for "jedi robe" but that pattern sucks... I've already had somebody trying to make it for me and well, let's just say I am still looking.

Let me just put some relevance to this topic before I win any other awards:

I've been collecting badges since I was about 9 years old. Any place that I visited etc, I would buy me a cotton badge stating the name of the town, place, flag etc. I have collected a fair number over the years. When I was in Std 7, I've bought myself a jacket (it was a XXL) and the badges was sewn onto the jacket. Unfortunately for some unexplained reason, that jacket is no longer really fitting so nicely which is why I need a 3XL or 4XL... and the other problem I have is that I've since collected a lot more badges and visited several additional countries. So, long story short, I've since removed all the badges from the old jacket, (I have about 160 badges now) and need to get a new jacket to sew these onto.

Here are some pictures of my old jacket

The only rule is that the badge will only go onto the jacket if I've actually visited said country, or location.

So, anybody have any suggestions on where I can find a jacket / coat that will suit my needs?

Denis, what you're looking for is a trench coat, based on what I've bolded above. I have a Hilton Weiner trench that fits the exact specs and is only a large. Whether it comes in 3XL or 4XL is another story to be honest.

Depending on your budget, you can find something at a Markhams or Woolworths. Hilton Weiner tends to be a bit more pricey. If its a casual jacket, rather look at a Woolies, if its smart-ish for work, you may need to browse a bit more. Where have you looked so far and have you considered importing?

Phats, with regard to a "trench coat" that is definitely on the right track, if I can now just get one with a hood (kappie) and one that is not too warm (I have sufficient insolation thanks) then Bob's my uncle.

Phatso, thanks for the info. I can tell you now that Woolies, Truworths, Markhams, Edgars, all those places rarely, if ever stock clothes in anything bigger than a 2XL. If they do stock a 3XL or 4XL, it is of a very small cut, ask the big guys here... Saying that, I have been lucky at some of those places in the past, but that is only when the marketing people screwed up and ordered the wrong sizes, it does happen, but then it is accidental. Bottom line, most of the popular "retailers" target students and "fashionable" people that for some reason just do not appreciate good food when they are presented to them. Bear in mind that I've grown up in the Freestate, so what you Gautengers call a "large piece of rump steak", we called "minute steaks".

With regard to "quality", I can assure you I will not be wearing it to the office, I will however be wearing it whenever I go into the bush, which is why canvas is the better type of material. I honestly don't mind paying for the coat as long as it is a good quality and one that will last me a good decade or two.

With regard to importing, the problem is that you get 3XL and you get a 3XL.

Come-on guys, I know I am not the most "fashionable conscience person" but, surely I am not the only one looking for something like this?

Ps, you get a crap load of "woman coats" but very few men's coats.
