WOW
as some of you know I was fortunate enough to win a decent prize at rage.
In this thread I hope to do some reviews, get some advice and jump for joy:
PC - Specs:
GPU: AMD radeon HD 6990 series (edited - FIXED)
CPU: intel i7-2600K CPU @3.4 GHz
RAM: 16 gigs @1600Mhz
HDD: 2Tb seagate baracuda
SSD: 250 Gb corsair force 3
BD Rewriter (BD - Blueray Disk)
Corsair cooling on CPU (hydro series h60) http://www.corsair.com/cpu-cooling-kits/hydro-series-water-cooling-cpu-cooler/hydro-series-h60-cpu-cooler.html
Corsair ram cooling
and Corsair graphite 600T case (MOIST doesnt quite do it justice) http://www.corsair.com/special-edition-white-graphite-series-600t-mid-tower-case.html
mobo - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68V_PRO
Review number one:
holy shit
Review number two:
unfortunately I didnt get any of the disks with the hardware so I have been slowly ploughing through setting up windows 7, down loading drivers and getting things to work.
Thanks to Drag and Skoups for your invaluable input.
After the first scare of the install not accepting the genuine CD key, the installation was quick. ( Win7 is the BOMB )
Then I couldnt get into the bios (I still cant) and will follow that one up with uncle google. dxdiag says - BIOS: ^VerbatimSTORE N GO 5.00, which sounds like my flash disk :hmmm:
BUT
Windows loads in a few seconds. Everything is clean, crisp and FFast. The webpages seem to load faster than my old machine, even with the same old iburst conection.
now I just have to load BF3 and do some benchmarks.
PS - Skoups - if you have some decent pics of the internals I would appreciate one or two posted here :)
Since the Mobo disk wasnt available there are still some missing drivers for the Sm controller, USB controller and an "unknown device" - none of which can be found throught the normal "search internet for drivers". I will consult Dr google on this.
EDIT:
this fantastic prize was given away by Landmark computers in Cape Town:
