Okay, with all of the details contained in the original thread, I thought it would be a good idea to create a new thread to discuss the classes that we are going to play. There have been a few changes since the last list, so it's worthwhile keeping something up to date so that new players can try to pick classes that will be beneficial to the group.

A note to everyone: There are two classes, the Rune Keeper and the Warden, that are limited to people that either own the 'Mines of Moria' expansion pack, or have unlocked the class in the LOTRO store (at a cost of 795 TP).

Please add your details to the list as you choose a character. At this stage, we are well sorted for Tanks, with three guardians already. We have a shortage of healers, with only me playing a healing class at the moment. It would be good if we could get a Minstrel or two, as well as a Champion, Lore Master, and a Captain.

Guys can anyone supply me with light leather etc that I can use for tailoring as I have gotten some nice Heavy armour recipes but with the more high level armour I am needing all sorts of odds and ends from the tailoring craft to complete the ingredient lists?

tbh I don't know who beats the hides to leather? maybe a woodcutter?

Forester turns hides into pieces of leather; light hides = pieces of light leather, medium hides = pieces of medium leather etc.

I have made my lvl 7 oke a forester, so if everyone can pls mail any hides they come accross to 'Aspoestertjie', I will get him up to Supreme Forester capabilities asap. (Go to a mailbox, click 'Compose', enter 'Aspoestertjie' as the recipient, and attach the hides to the letter - postage costs ingame money, so make sure you have some. If you have a low lvl character who is struggling for money, let me know and I'll post you some herbs that can be sold for big bucks to cover postage costs.)

Similarly, if you need specific things made, make a note in the mail you send me and I'll get on with it. My main character is also a tailor, so I am currently feeding him with pieces of leather from my low lvl oke.

Hides are fairly common raw materials, HOWEVER, it takes 2 hides to make a single piece of leather, and 2 pieces of leather to make a single tailoring component, so for every 4 hides I get, I can only manufacture ONE tailoring component. Since it takes a good few hundred components to get through the fist 2-3 tiers of tailoring, i need as many hides as I can get. The urgent requirement is for light hides since my higher lvl character no longer finds them, so the newer players will be vital to supplying these lower lvl raw materials. I will, of course, need all levels of hide to complete all lvls of the tailoring so pls keep them rolling in. PLEASE NOTE: I only need HIDES, not furs, skins or anything like that.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated - I will in turn provide forestry/tailoring for any characters that require it. The need for a tailor is to provide the heavy armoursmith with components for the yectic armour he makes, and because medium and light armour are made by tailors.


On another note, my higher lvl character has completed the cooking and farming vocations to Supreme Master, so if you need ANYTHING from either of those 2 trades, let me know.

I will be organising another 'beer, pipe weed & braai' event when we have most of our players online. Is cool to hang out together with our kinship name on display smoking, drinking, chowing and generally looking cool (well, the hobbits look cool, anyways...)

Grav - Lore-Master is actually the toughest (from experience and from what I've read) class to solo.

The reason being is that this is more of a support class than anything else. You may find it tough, really tough, to do quests where you attack groups, I know I do. The trick is to rather do quests that are a level or two below your current level, so that you don't get overwhelmed and disappointed with the game itself.

I'd suggest using a champion, guardian or captain initially to learn the game, but that is most certainly up to you.

Lore-Master also heals, but not group-heal (that I've seen yet), rather target heal and heal a lot - current +300morale at level 16.
Plus my LM can remove ill effects like wound and disease.

Well Onxy, I have enjoyed the hunter class they relatively easy to get used to and they provide a damage rate. It would also be cool to have someone else at the back of the crowed protecting our weaker-kin like Drag... :p

I've also started a "Minstrel" account. Going to swap between them for a while and see what works best.

I might need a few harder missions to decide between them 'cause at the moment they're still evenly matched (if anything, the Lore Master seems to have a higher attack strength).
