There hasn't been much said about the new COD within the clan thus far, and I'm keen to read what people's thoughts are.

It's out in a few short weeks now, and IMO some of the new stuff looks absolutely epic!!

Here's some footage of the new stuff

First Black Ops trailer - Single Player campaign (looks EPIC) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtRnpC7ddv8&feature=related&feature=player_embedded#ws)

Multiplayer Overview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G94SolEtpnc&feature=related&feature=player_embedded#ws)

Character Customisation - how currency works (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0_r4-eTmlA&feature=channel&feature=player_embedded#ws)

Wager Mode - Bankrupt your mates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSeXwdZWbWM&has_verified=1&feature=player_embedded#ws)

I for one can't wait for this game. I've bought all of the COD games on the strength of their SP campaign alone, but MP is always fun. This iteration looks to be the best so far!

If we get local servers, I am moist definitely getting this. (see what i did there?)

Since I saw the first gameplay vid, I was interested. You all know I love the hardcore fast paced stuff

Tweaker? WTF is that? Do you mean Twitcher?

@Phats - Good news man, glad to know that I won't be the only one of the clan playing this game.

Oh, and if you ever humiliate me with a tomahawk to the head in a wager game... you can consider the friendship ended!!

I really enjoyed WAW, in particular the bolts. We may not have enough COD fans within the clan to wage war on a clanular scale but, if rumours of local servers bare fruition, then I will be be keen to give it a whirl.

Seems that the server issue has been resolved...

Definitely going to be adding this game to my collection.

It's released in about a week and a half, so not long to wait now...

Abso-fucking-lutely AWESOME!!!!

If you haven't already, you really need to look at how much there is to do in this game.

Plethora of game modes, wager/gambling games, experience system, weapon customization (grrr logo on my shotgun thx), coop campaign, full blown achievement system, theater mode (make your own movies from in-game footage)...

I am 150% going to play this primarily. Even if there is no competition, there seems to be so much to do even playing casually.

Hooah! :snipe:

Time to get yourself an mweb account, or have an account with an isp that freely peers with mweb. If you don't have one, blame your isp for trying to charge mweb to let you play on the mweb server, lol.

I'm in for giving BO a go to see how good it is.

Way to go mweb!

I must admit I am a biased against COD, mainly because the multiplayer game's mechanics just don't have that wide-open objective and teamie orientated BF feel. Multiplayer COD typically delivers fast paced CQBish lone wolfing which is just not my preference.

I like getting kills, who doesn't, but I always found with COD that it gets boring when you end up camping or rinse-repeating kill strategems just to rack them up and be the big nasty on the server (kills just for the sake of kills). I think the major complaint I have is not being able to differentiate your friends from the herd is a real buzz-kill to squad play. However, I must say this looks like another level of insanity and might win me over yet!

Besides, it's great for sharpening up those reflexes and survival instincts for Battlefield 3 ;)

As you guys mentioned, the single player should be really impressive if previous CODs are anything to go by. Also I really dig the customization and currency aspects. The fact that they included MP bots for offline practice and what look to be awesome post-game camera reviews mean it could pass as a team sport after all! It's bound to turn my poor little PC into a smouldering heap of smelly plastic and I expect you lot will give me wager match nightmares; but hey, I'm looking forward to it.

I'll make the purchase as soon as it's released in BT Games! :D Thanks Dragonne, big ups for including good vids and converting a non-believer!

MOAH bumps. Need to get this conversation flowing lekker lekker.

I know COD is a bit out there and its not a Battlefield title, but it seems like we have quite a keen following going :)

I am a bit worried as to when I am going to play through the SP campaign. A new online FPS means everyone (who purchases close to release date) gets put on the same level more or less. Limited game-time (which hopefully will change) means that a lot of the time I will have to say "SP for epic-ness or MP to get my skills up".

COD is one of "THOSE" games where if you happen to fall far enough behind, shits going to be tough when dealing with the "pr0's". I understand that this line is quite vague, but you know what I mean right.

So as it stands, I am super excited to play MP, but COD SP has always been a drawcard... I just don't know when I am going to play it.

(just a random thought, but we should start chatting more about Black Ops)

My normal COD approach has always been to finish teh SP campaign first, then dive into MP.

As the campaign is never longer than about 6 hours max, that's not going to hold you back from skilling up. Especially as the pros will haev hundreds of hours invested in teh first coup;le of weeks anyway, so taking a bit of time out to play SP shouldn't affect things too much.

As for me, well I'm moving into my new house on the 12th, adn I have no idea when my DSL line will be installed. It may well be a month or so before I get to jam online again :(

At least I'll have COD SP and Fallout:New Veags to keep me occupied...

i hear you phatz - Perks be the killaz in COD and if you're not in there with MP from the start - you get a very unwelcoming smack down by multi-perked uber l33tzors when you join as a noob.

Getting in there Early keeps the confidence and keep you ahead of the curve.

SP can wait for "offdays" or Telkom failures.

Sure it'll be a seriously good SP experience - but I rate MP 1st or face frustration

Copy of a copy...

14 Ways that Black Ops raises the bar...

Nazi Zombies
This was one of World at War’s most popular features, and for Black Ops, Treyarch raised the bar on themselves by updating the four original Nazi Zombie maps and bringing them to new life for the heavily updated Black Ops game engine. These maps, however, will only be available in the Hardened or Prestige edition of Black Ops.

Stat Keeping
Treyarch has said that this is their more aggressive stat-keeping system to date, the one feature in Black Ops. Players can track their stats for each weapon used, over the course of their entire career in Black Ops. Combat Record, a multi-paged record keeping feature, will also feature heat-maps. These are essentially a mapping of where the major action takes place on a map, or where it’s ‘hottest’.

Sniping
While we know that Quickscoping is a hotly debated Call of Duty community subject, we are diplomatically going to stay out of that one. What we do support, however, is the lengths that Treyarch is going to make sniping more realistic and return the role of a Sniper to where it began in Call of Duty.

Killstreak Kills
Kills from Killstreak Rewards no longer count towards your next-higher killstreak reward. This is definitely raising the bar over previous Call of Duty titles where users often had only to reach a lower killstreak and hide somewhere while that Killstreak Reward earned them their next-higher one. This will encourage some more interactivity and promote aggressive players.

Interactive Killstreaks
Something that has been missing from previous Call of Duty titles is a truly interactive Killstreak Reward. More often then not, it is a push-button-and-forget-it type of situation. Modern Warfare 2 improved on this, featuring Chopper Gunner and AC-130 but Treyarch and Black Ops definitely raised the bar. Gunship allows players to control an attack helicopter, including it’s direction and weaponry. Most killstreaks have a certain level of interaction to them. Definitely a step up from previous titles.

Campaign
Everything that we have seen and heard from Black Ops’ campaign all seems to indicate that the story that Treyarch are telling will surpass any Call of Duty campaign by quite a lot. The player-character now has a voice, as opposed to never speaking in previous Call of Duty titles, this is going to go a long way to getting players wrapped up in the Campaign’s epic story. We’ve been teased that the campaign ending is extremely epic.

Special Secondaries
Two of the most hotly anticipated weapons in Black Ops are the two, brand-new and unorthodox Special Secondaries: the Crossbow and the Ballistic Knife. Out of the ordinary weaponry like these two really set Black Ops apart from previous Call of Duty titles, and many FPS titles in general and sets a new standard for this genre. People may not be entirely happy being restricted to firearms in the future, remembering back on Black Ops’ Crossbow and Ballistic Knife.

Community Feedback
Never before have we seen such dedication to the community, as Treyarch have shown during the development of Black Ops. Countless features in the game came directly from feedback that the community put forth. Treyarch has proven time and time again that, not only are they willing to listen to us, they are willing to change their game for us. Their level of community interaction sets the bar very high for other developers, as players are going to hope for this level of interaction from every game developer they deal with.

COD Points
If you aren’t familiar, COD Points is the name of the new currency system, implemented into Black Ops for the first time in Call of Duty history. This system allows you to earn Points and spend them any way you like, on Weapons, Camo’s, Face-paints, Killstreak Rewards or a host of other options. This raises the bar on many other FPS titles and especially on Call of Duty, itself. Never before have players had the ability to spend ‘money’ on anything that they wish. We have always been given a certain weapon, at a certain level, whether we liked that weapon or not.

Co-op
While we don’t have the exact details, from everything we have been told and have seen, we are certain that Black Ops’ co-op mode will definitely surpass Spec Ops in MW2 and Campaign Co-op in World at War. Treyarch has promised a ‘seat-of-your-pants’ type of fun for players and their friends. With Nazi Zombies and the new co-op mode, we are sure to have a first-class co-op experience.

Theater
While Theater mode may not be new to FPS titles in general, it is certainly a brand new and highly anticipated feature in Black Ops. Players will be able to share clips with friends and upload videos to the internet, though the details of the latter are not yet available. With Free Cam mode, you can detach the camera from a set player and move freely around the map, watching the action from all angles. There will also be a Segment Editor, where players can join clips to form a film. This is definitely a major addition to the Call of Duty series, and one that fans will not want to miss out on in the future.

Combating Hackers & Cheaters
The hacking community has plagued Call of Duty and many other FPS’ online game modes for years. Action has been taken against them in the past, to little or no avail, it seems. This time around, Treyarch is stepping up their measures by, not only including in-game security but a team of people in place to respond and react to hacks, glitches or exploits as they appear in Black Ops. This is definitely a stepped-up security measure, and one that many other developers will most likely want to implement in their games in the future, depending on the success that Treyarch has with Black Ops.

Balancing Multiplayer
Previous Call of Duty games have all had their balancing issues, but Treyarch seems to be doing everything that they can to ensure that both Killstreaks and Weapons are all balanced when Black Ops launches on November 9th. The effort that they are making is rumored to include having a person on the team, who’s sole job on Black Ops, is to ensure that the MP is balanced. This will be a welcome change for people who were pestered with MP40′s in World at War, UMP-45′s and Chopper Gunner in Modern Warfare 2 or any of the other bothersome balancing issues.

Customization
the number one way that Black Ops raises the bar on FPS games and future Call of Duty games is Customization. Whether it’s the option to place your Clan Tag on your weapon or the chance to create a multi-layer emblem representing yourself, Treyarch has really raised the bar with Customization. Players like to make their online character a representation of themselves, and prefer to play the game in their own style. The options for that are coming on November 9th, and they are coming in droves. Be prepared to spend a long, long while making your Black Ops experience unique to your style

Looks good Phats, I'm amped.

Having said that, the footage is all SP, but it does restore my faith in an epic SP campaign being delivered.

As my Telkom line is still not installed yet, not to mention getting my ADSL switched on, I'm pretty sure that I won't have Internet when I move in next Friday. At least with this and Fallout New Vegas I'll have plenty of SP action to enjoy while I wait...

Awesome to see this list growing.. We need to do some server raids :D

I have not been on TS while playing Black Ops due to me trying to save my Axxess Lite bandwidth only for Black Ops (TS chows b/w)..

Need to set up my internetz somehow that Black Ops uses Axxess Lite, while TeamSpeak uses SAIX Telkom... Routesentry? Or something else?

(is there any app that I can use that forces certain apps to use certain bandwidth? Soz, I haven't used RS for about 3 years)

I am using TrafficSplitter. Works well. I used RouteSentry for a couple of years but its no longer supported by the developer so TrafficSplitter is the way to go.

http://gaming.do.co.za/downloads/530/others/pc/generic/Traffic%20splitter%206.9.rar

You can edit the routing tables for TrafficSplitter.
Go to Options> Edit routes with WordPad
Then add/remove IPs for your needs.

* I cant remember if TrafficSplitter adds WAN points you will need to set it to at least 2 in the registry.
Try this: http://www.quickshare.co.za/files/v2mxeto9/WanEndPoints.reg.html

Confusing the crap out of me Geth..

Will give this a run a bit later and see if I have any luck.

(i got lost by routes; add removing IPs; WAN points..
Will I be able to say "BLACK OPS USE this Dial In account; TS use that Dial In account?)

Megageth
24-11-2010, 01:36 PM
Haha. I will try to give you some easy instructions and explanations.

WAN points are the basically the number of broadband dial-ups you can make at the same time. By default it is set to one. Using that registry key (worked in XP) you should be able to set the WAN End points to 2 so that you can have 2 going at the same time.

Then create your 2 dial-ups (in Windows) for each separate account.
(Assuming at this stage you have already received the login details for 2 ADSL accounts.)

Once that is done, you restart and install Traffic Splitter.

Traffic Splitter is VERY easy to use. It will have drop downs for International and Local accounts. Pick which one is which.

Then you can edit the IP addresses for each account.
i.e. You select (from a dropdown) the Axxess account "Local". You wont have to change anything here because all the local BO servers should be listed as local IP addresses anways.
You can then make the Telkom account "International" and add the Teamspeak server IP to the International routing table. Just type it in and you are set.

If you are still stuck i will do helpful screenshots of the process later but right now they are drilling in the flat next to me and I must GTFO before I lose the plot.

Followed the steps Geth (the link of Traffic Splitter didn't work (the rar atleast), but the registry file did...)
Except it didn't work... :(

Couldn't add the IP of TS as it asks for IP, netmask... no idea what that is. And then clicking "Save" in wordpad, followed by checking the routes, showed nothing being added..

Also, I could connect my Telkom Account (under international), but on selecting my Axxess Lite account (under local) and clicking "Connect", the Axxess did nothing.. It just changed to "Connecting" then back to "Connect".

Help a noob plx.

Megageth
25-11-2010, 10:01 PM
Did you restart after updating the registry key? It will only allow 2 connections after you have updated the registry AND rebooted.
PS I added the following line to the International routing file and it seems to have worked:
196.25.210.10,255.255.255.255

I added that line, saved the file, clicked "Set up Routes" and then logged into teamspeak. I spoke nonsense to myself and kept clicking the "Update" button on the statistics tab in Traffic Splitter and only the International connection was showing any movement so it seems to work.

Keep trying dude, once it is setup you save the configuration, put a shortcut for the program in your Startup menu and it will dial your connections automatically each time you start windows.
