I have a couple of OLD laptops at home that might have this memory in it if you can get the laptop to boot, or if you could get the memory out of the casing. You could have it free of charge, if you are prepare to scratch around the laptops for it.

Speaking of laptops, my Dad needs one. His old one is completely wrecked.

He only uses it for basic stuff like surfing the net , talking to my brother on Skype and maybe using Word or excel for home stuff

Can anyone recommend one for under R5000?

Here is one I am looking at

I just picked up a Netbook in Dubai for Camilla's birthday.

ASUS eee PC - it's a Dual Core, has nVidia ion graphics, built in webcam, 12" screen and HDMI out for HDTV hookup.

Nice little package, set me back <R4K in Dubai, so should be <R5K in SA.

IIRC, Denis may be able to get one from Frontosa - could save a few bob.

Jarrod, all that I can say, you've got a GREAT BARGAIN on that side... I would almost go so far as to suggest you consider bringing back one or two more, since I am pretty sure you will be able to sell them off when you get back here for a profit. (and the purchaser will still get it cheaper than what I can get it at).

Same laptop, locally...

So not far off the mark, depending where you get it.
