UPDATING

Learnt the hard way.

- When first installing or updating BC2, launch the shortcut from the Windows/Games folder. The game exe does not check version info.

ROUTESENTRY

It doesn't look like the iGame Server IP's are listed as local in the Routesentry log. I have added them to mine, tested and seems to work. I have attached my RS log, save it over: C:\Routesentry\localroutes.dat (or wherever you installed).

WIN 7 PING SPIKE FIX

* Open regedit
* Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
* There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
* Reboot

I cannot explain to you how much the brightness / contrast settings make.
Just try it, it makes things so smooth the game feels ... smoother (FPS wise even... placebo no doubt) and MUCH softer on our already LCD-burnt eyes.
The VO setting also is pretty cool as you can still hear its Russians, but they have thick accents instead of saying "PRAJEEVNIC".

The speaker setting was also an absolute pleasure... Proper pleasure. You'll understand if I am sometimes very quiet, or yelling in TS.. Its because for the audiogasm (i'll take that one TM thx) that my Kave's are causing.

original FOV was 55, set mine to 65, maybe i should go 85....hmm
contrast, I'll try that too.

KAVE's ZOMGness UBERNess with the setting to 5.1 speakerzors - also noting that normally on other games, set my REAR control volume on the Kaves to 50% rest on 75%, now with BC2 75% seems mush bettererer and clearerererer.

I would love to have a setting in my game that allows me to have both left and right channels output into only left set of speakers while still enabling front and back differentiation. You tend to be restricted to mono, stereo, 5.1 etc.

I am getting these high pings in bc2 and I have no reasonable explanation why as I have tried everything....

Even just tried the solution Geth put down in the 1st post here and NADA.....

When I log in on the game my ping is 550 and stays there no matter what I do. I have swapped the router and also swapped NIC's with no luck. Iggy can play other games with normal pings including BC2. And this also doesnt affect any other online games I play as they are also fine.

Anyone have any ideas what else I can do? this is extremely frustrating!!

What ISP do you have?

Do you and Iggy use the same ISP account?
If you have changed hardware (NIC and Router) and Iggy is using the same network then it must be software on your side. Disable antivirus and any windows firewalls and try game.
Try install firewall software and see what else is accessing the internet from your pc.
If you try to ping the servers from command, what are the results?
There are some serious issues at the moment wrt gaming in SA. Some of which can be traced to the fact that Telkom refuses to peer with MWeb.
To sum up, your problem may originate from one of the following:
- ISP
- Software/virus accessing the internet
- Someone else using the internet at the same time
- Hardware: cable, NIC, Router
- Drivers

first thing I did was closing all applications and I check that my pc wasnt using the internet for which ever reason
I ruled out the possibility that its someone else using the internetas yesterday I was the only person plugged into the internet
I have also changed all the hardware that could possibly cause this within reason

that only leaves ISP and drivers
It cant be the ISP as iggy is gaming fine as we are using the same mweb uncapped account....

I also doubt itsdrivers as my board was recently released and there wont be any worthwhile driver updates yet, but I will check

Ion, I assume that Iggy is spending his gaming time playing BOps? If so, he's going to be playing on MWEB hosted servers all of the time. If you'e playing BC2, you're going to need to be very careful which severs you join. Any SAIX servers, i.e. all of SGS, will result in pings of 500+ because of the peering issue between MWEB and Telkom.

I'm not sure which servers ae 'safe' for you, I'm sure that Lee/Shadey can give details. As WebAfrica does peer with MWEB, you should be okay on the WAGE servers, at least.

Yeah, if you're on MWeb then you are contending with peering issues. Unless you get a IS account then as Jarrod says you wont get playable ping to SGS. You can try iGame and Wage. I am on IS and I gotta say, all the BC2 servers are KAK at the moment. I think there's a lot of packet loss going on between the players on Telkom's network and those on other networks and the result is serious game lag, even when you get a decent server ping. Shadey, Lee and I tried BC2 last night but gave up and played BO. For some reason BO is less affected by the peering issues.

Dude do a tracert to iGame, Wage and SGS servers. If there are serious delays to all then send an email to Mweb with the traces and ask them like WFT man?

Actually, run traces from both your machine and Iggy's and post all the results here, lets see WTF is going on.

I'm going to Tracert Igame / Saix been getting ridiculous Pings as bwell and I've tried 3 other ISP's I can't afford to fork out for dsl accounts...
