I actually can't remember how long I've been squadding with you guys. I know I applied once back at the end of 2007, so it's been 6 years since I was accused of being too young and all that.. :sorry: Can safely say I've cleared that hurdle.

I r still for liking to be a grrrbian!!

Seriously, I'm envious of those tags! Want some of my own to show off :) Pleeeeeease?:prod:

Super seriously, I'm going to be playing BF4 for the foreseeable future and the only peeps I'm interested in joining up with is [grrr]. I might be dabbling in some CoD again one day if the clan play becomes worthwhile.

kmckelvin, I remember running around with you in BF2 and BF2 Special Forces with ducky and leppy and nightyshade back in '05/'06. I still have a vivid image in my mind of you throwing C4 at me in one of the Spetznaz bases. Me trying to backpedal as fast as possible because you were a master at throwing the C4 far.

You got my vote to join, but applications are closed as you know. Don't give up though, call Paul and douche and you'll probably get some extra street cred.

About damn time!!! You will need to answer the questions. Phatso also posted "Application Closed" for now on the front page so we will need him to open the door a smidge or you will need to wait until Grrr starts recruiting again

Murgs! You've got me reminiscing over the glory days now, before EA patched my C4 whoring away :( I still haven't forgiven them. Although a bit of C4 madness has returned in BF4 now! Those BF2 SF night maps were all kinds of awesome, many hours went into squadding with you and Guidog back then.

I see the big nasty CLOSED sign, but duckles said I need to just open a thread, so here it is :)

So why the nick "Nimbzy"? What other nicks have you used?
First person shooters only or do you get dirty on MMORPG's or cerebral on Strat Games?
Having been in some competitive setups, you realise that we are semi-competitive but mostly casual and still happy to apply?
Would you want to play in BF League games if the opportunity presented?

Nimbz was a smurf name I used a few years ago when I started playing CoD4, and it just kind of stuck. Its origin: I threw three consonants down and put a couple of letters between to make it pronounceable. I've played as Statik in BF2142 as well.

I'm mostly into FPS, though I might dabble in something like DotA once a year or so.

While I was in some competitive setups in the past, that was while I was at school and had hundreds of hours to throw at it. I've grown up a little since then and things like work/life balance are far more important. I don't think I'll ever go back to a fully competitive setup again and I think you guys have nailed the casual / semi-competitive balance.

If the league games do come up I'll definitely be up for that, and put the time in to join practices as need be.

2. Who do you enjoy squadding with the most in BF3/Bf4

My questions

1. If I give you a non flexible, non destructable container with inside dimensions of 10cm x 10cm x 5cm. I then give you non flexible, non destructable, perfectly spherical ball bearings which has a 1cm diametre. What is the maximum number of ball bearings that you can fit inside the container. Show your calculations because we have some slower people in the clan that fails to follow the maths.

2. Please post a picture of the inside of your rig. Please note that given the prevailent condition of OCD in this clan, points will be deducted for dirt, lose wires, poor cable management, and any thing else that doesn't belong (or are missing) from the inside of said rig.

3. Since you are no longer a minor and that this thread will eventually go down this route one way or another, I may as well start it now.
3.1 Which clan member has the largest selection of PORN on his / her computer.
3.2 Which clan member have seen the most naked breasts (unique woman and in the flesh (i.e. not pictures or dreams)).
3.3 Which clan member have seen the most breast (photos, internet pictures, imaginary, and dreams all count)
3.4 Will you screw a dead chicken?

Looking forward to your answers.

1. Using a sphere lattice packing it is possible to fill up to (pi / sqrt(18) x available volume) of an area with perfect spheres. Thus you can fit pi / sqrt(18) x (10 x 10 x 5) floored - ball bearings in the given space. That's 370.

However, given that nobody has yet produced perfect spheres, the above scenario doesn't exist :)

1. Seriously? You can fit only 370 ball bearings in a space of 10cm X 10cm x 5 cm, with each ball bearing having a 1cm diametre? That is not even close. Let me help you out, assume yuo just pack each layer 10x10 ball bearings, that is a 100 ball bearings per layer. Now, you can pack 5 of them on top of each other, that means the answer is at least 500, but since they are spheres, you could easily fit in more.

2. At least the power connectors are protected from some foreign debris. However, since dust is made up predominately of dead skin or skin that is shed, I would say that given the condition of said pc, you may want to cut down on your porn collection. Now, please put in a little bit more effort into answering the questions please.

1. Guess that's what happens when answering questions while trying to work :P I forgot the last step. 370,2402448465 / ((4/3) x pi x r^3) = 707,1067811865. 707 bearings.

Nope still not... let me help you out again...

1. If you start your bottom layer with 10 x 10 then that gives you 100 ball bearings.
2. if you stack your second layer 9 x 9 (81 bearings) with each ball bearing sitting in the lowest point between the botton 4 ball bearings, the height of the second row will only be 1.541196 cm.
3. The third layer you again pack 10x10, but then that layer is 2.082392cm in height.
4. continue with this pattern, 100 then 81, then 100, then 81 until the container is full then you get at least 724 ball bearings in which is greater than the 707 you mentioned.
5. A word of advise, this ain't no simple puzzle and you need to apply some brain power to it as Google will not give you the correct answer.

If you stack the second layer as 9x9, you won't be using all of the available space, surely you'd have to take one sphere off both sides and pack 8x8 to be optimal?

How do you get the height of 1.541196cm given the 9x9 packing? I tried finding a method to work that out (without diving into all kinds of trig that I haven't touched since school) and went for an easier option instead.

You will work it out, eventually, just a comment, you don't even need trig to do it. Just think a little bit 3 dimensional and use who I deem one of the founding fathers of mathematical theoroms' most famous theorom of it all.

Graffiti art can be very cool, but it has the potential to become obnoxious. If it's done cleverly I think it's brilliant. If it's purely done to deface an item, it's worthless.

Okay I concede. I don't see how the heck you guys got to 1.54.

I hit 1.866 before I had taken the 3rd dimension into account, but after that my numbers don't match up.

Working out using the center points as a base and doing triangulation... I make the assumption that if the spheres are perfect that the distance between the centers of two touching spheres will be exactly 2r. I work out the second stack's height to be 1.7071 if you place a sphere on top of a 2x2 square layout of spheres, or 1.75 if you place a sphere on top of a triangle of spheres.

This is dusting out some really old cobwebs. Haven't touched this kind of math in years :|

I'll post my working out if needed.

Ekks!

I played for a few clans in CoD4. I started off with r0gue until they disbanded. I went on to mentor a 3rd division team who I really enjoyed playing with and eventually coached them to the point where we got to the premier league, then they gave up on CoD after rage 2009. From there on the few of us who still kept going joined iMg and played at MPLD. There was a heck of a lot of clan rotation in CoD since people came and went so frequently. I also had no interest in joining one of the bigshot clans because of the total arrogance some of them showed.

Favourite band: Dream Theater

I don't find time to read fiction. I think the last fictional series I read was Harry Potter when I was still a kid. Most of what I read now is technical and relates to my profession; in which case Bob Martin's Clean Code series is my current favourite.

Whiskey: Food colouring.

And dude, medic whoring on Guilin Peaks ftw! :P
