So Phats suggested that Nvidia users use the following driver for best FPS: 320.49

To see in-game FPS type this into the consol: perfoverlay.drawfps 1
(If you are like me and actually removed your "squiggly" key, just hold down B to bring up the consol.)

On domination, there is a crate that you can close on B flag. This crate is excellent for capping/defending B flag. I was pwning people there last night.

Always aim for the head when shooting at the enemy :)

Taking down tanks, just as a thought, when shooting a tank head on...try aim for the con-caved part where the tank turret meets the body. it does a lot more damage. plus if you did not know, it takes two shots in the bum of a tank to kill it. They have limited the tanks firing sequence which mean you need to use your ammo sparingly, so what BF4 has done it made the tanks faster with the boost. So on a 1v1 with a tank, best is to charge ahead and take that one or two shots and get behind the tank for a kill cause the enemy tank should already be on 60HP.

I had a crack at making a grrr emblem in BF4, it's not very good but I think anyone can do it pretty easily and quickly. Check it out yo, improve upon it! It would be cool to standardise them to a great design, but I think we'll get more emblem assets on release and unlocks so that has to wait. Apparently there won't be a custom image upload for BF4, but I see there are some forum posts to get EA/DICE to reconsider.

Couple bugs/things you should be aware of:

- Engi RPGs can lock onto the Recon PLD (laser), currently there is no tone when a missile is fired. So flare in your chopper on hostile lock and get range to pick them off with the gunner's cannon unless you know for certain it's an air threat.
- The attack boat often spawns on land, can't seem to work out why but it just does. It falls from the sky in the wrong place.
- The ACOG on the DMR rifles doesn't seem to be accurate, just my experience but maybe I have it wrong.
- Some cover will not let you vault over it, instead you will be pushed backwards. It seems to be in certain areas as opposed to certain landscape asset types.
- When the main Shanghai building collapses, one of the elevator buttons is preserved and you can actually activate it and get teleported to the height of the building prior falling. You basically just parachute down but you can launch tanks even like that.
- By default, BF4 settings make you auto-join on the person you joined on via Battlelog. This mostly works but it can lead to a loop where you can't make a new squad and can be frustrating. Either join servers manually or disable the setting option.
- The terrain is still deadly, especially around the fallen building. The old bad luck is confirmed in BF4, let's hope it gets sorted out. There's also this weird acceleration effect on C flag if you run in a certain area around the middle of the flag.
- Apparently tank secondary gunners can "blind" other tanks by shooting just left of their turret (relative to their point of view - your right). This is supposed to hit where the driver camera is and the flare of the secondary gun will make it more difficult to see (still testing).
- C4 slides when you throw it and sometimes doesn't stick to vehicles properly on a throw. Get close to make sure. Ducky also mentioned that you can throw ammo/health packs really far by aiming dead on at a person and then throwing.
- Be aware of the blueish skyscraper around E, it is extremely high and has no elevator access. Often guys will camp there to get quick caps on E, lock choppers and generally snipe the crap out of you. Always check it and clear it if you're in the air.
- The airburst works by locking a range when you first scope in, so be sure to reset it if you misaimed else you'll miss miserably. It takes about 3 good hits to kill someone, but I've yet to see this making the support class as well equipped as the other classes.
- The knife animation can extend beyond your death. I've had it where I knifed a c4 recon at the back of our tank at the moment he detonated. I was dead and so was he, but the knife animation continued and I got a kill. Front knife counters are way too easy too btw.
- Hackers. Yes there are BF4 Beta hackers. One on the local servers is a guy named "ANC-Must-Die" or something like that. It's your typical I can headshot you across the map with my support gun without even looking at you type. No PB yet but you can report his profile.

Last thing, you can double the fire rate of the AK-12 Assault Rifle by switching it to burst mode. If you can get used to playing like that, you have a super fire rate railgun. You do have to deal with the increased first round recoil each burst, but the AK-12's recoil is non-existent so with practice you can compensate for it. I've had good success with this and I believe it puts out much more accurate DPS than the SCAR with a larger clip - you need to time your taps though. It's impossibru good, I promise.

Check this out if you are still wanting to config further: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52682&d=1381183819

Be sure to test out your settings on an empty server because it's not perfect yet, I have found it gives me much more stable frames by disabling a couple more effects.

Cross-Copy-Pasta

REMEMBER THIS IS A BETA AND THINGS WILL CHANGE! DON'T GO UPGRADING JUST YET

Obviaaaaas that YMMV, but everything is worth a shot to get the game running smoothly.

GFX card stuff
1. Nvidia users in Windows 8 - it is advised that you use the latest BETA Geforce drivers.
2. Nvidia users in Windows 7 - it is advised that you use the 320.49 Geforce drivers.
3. ATi users in either - it is advised you use the latest BETA Catalyst drivers.

Another quick emblem for those interested (slightly more complicated), you can apparently copy mine if you view it via my profile. I've neatened it slightly and changed some of the colours since this post and looked at it game, I think it looks pretty cool. Would be nice to see on soldier shoulders, it's a proper patch :D

- However the utility does some nice things... hitting back up at 110-120 at sections, and dropping to around 55-65

Sweet I will add it as soon as I get my game to actually run above 20 FPS

New beta update fixes the frame rate dropping issue. Still doesn't optimise both my GPUs, uses them at about 50-60%on each. Single card it uses 90-100%.

Step in the right direction! Full game should be awesomeness!

Also read about that, good to hear Andrew.

So that you know, its a driver/profile issue regarding crossfire/sli issues, so that should be resolved in time :)

Ok so my config settings - I went for the LOWEST possible strain on my PC and in the main I'm averaging 100 frames with dips to 60 every now and then. I have an i7, 8gb RAM, NVIDIA GTX 570 (single), Sandy Bridge mobo and Windows 7. I hope this helps you, I recommend just going all out low settings and slowly ratcheting up what you can afford. I made sure I am running my Windows 7 theme appearance on basic mode to improve some performance generally. I hear Windows 8 is great for FPS, but I really don't have 3k to spare on a new OS when they could end up optimising better for Win 7.

-- Open up the BF4 config utility posted and make the following changes:
Whether you run DX10 or DX11 is really up to you - after initially using DX10 I have found DX11 runs slightly smoother with no real fps hit for me.
Raw Mouse Input - this will help a lot with your aiming as it removes in-game mouse acceleration (make sure there's no Windows mouse acc!).
Graphics - set EVERYTHING to low, disable what can be disabled and change your anisotropic filter to 1x.
Untick all the additional graphics options like motion blur, transparent shadows, v-sync etc.
Change your audio output device to headphones and tweak the volume settings so you can actually hear VOIP and be heard.
Change the Deadzone to 0 - this is an aiming deadzone and I believe it will improve long distance control.

If you guys are desperate for performance, make sure you've freed up as much processing power as possible by closing all other applications and checking your processes list for any crap that can be ended. You could also try using a program like RazerGameBooster, but I'm not really sure it helps that much. Clean and defrag your computer - it's as important to maximise your CPU and drive speed as your GPU. I've also noticed my PC running slightly warmer with BF4, no suprise really, so don't forget to de-dust your PC. I did a full case clean and couldn't believe how it affected my temps and general stability.

My user.cfg file reads as follows:

perfoverlay.drawfps 1
worldrender.motionblurenable 0
worldrender.spotlightshadowmapresolution 256
worldrender.spotlightshadowmapenable 0
worldrender.lighttilecspathenable 0
renderdevice.forcerenderaheadlimit 1
gametime.maxvariablefps 100
renderdevice.triplebufferingenable 0
renderDevice.vsyncenable 0

Just have a n00b question:
Do I just make a notepad file named user.dfg in the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4 Beta

Open note pad and copy the settings, then go to File and save as user.cfg in the above folder. If you just create a text file and then rename it as user.cfg then it sometimes saves it as user.cfg.txt especially if you have extentions hidden. It won't work if the end is .txt

If you use "" around the file name when saving it, it also forces Windows to let you have your way.
Useful trick.

Guys you can get further FPS increases and customisations if you go into the profile settings for BF4. On my computer, the directory is: C:\Users\Stefan\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings. You are looking for a file called "PROFSAVE_profile" and you want to open it with Wordpad - it works better than Notepad in this case. Once it's open you can customise all sorts of things incl. keybindings. The most important lines to change I think are:

GstRender.AmbientOcclusion 0 (user preference)
GstRender.AnisotropicFilter 0 (user preference)
GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred 0 (user preference)
GstRender.AntiAliasingPost 0 (user preference)
GstRender.ConsoleAntiAlias 0 (worthless)
GstRender.MotionBlur 0.000000 (dat motion blur)
GstRender.MotionBlurEnabled 0
GstRender.ShadowQuality 0
GstRender.TerrainQuality 0
GstRender.TextureFiltering 0
GstRender.TransparentShadows 0
GstRender.UndergrowthQuality 0
GstRender.VSyncEnabled 0
GstRender.WeaponDOF 0
GstInput.Deadzone 0.300000 (minimum aiming deadzone I think)
GstInput.LeaningEnabled 1 (disables leaning system for quicker more reliable peeks - doe a bit riskier)

Now for the really controversial one, "GstRender.ResolutionScale 0.999999". Setting this in the profile reduces a custom resolution scale instead of say 100% or 95%. Doing this sacrifices BIG time on graphics, but you seem to shallow out the FPS drops really well and IMO it's worth it. I was able to claw back some eye candy with the following without any further significant performance hit. Worth a try if you are just sick and tired of heavy stuttering.

Don't go very low though it really does sacrifice a lot for FPS. 97.5% was an okayish tradeoff for me between 95 and 100 - 95 was too brutal and 100 was really stuttery. I chose 99.89% because it seemed to give as good a benefit with much less cost than say 97.5%. It's up to you and your system but I think 99.999999 is a good idea for everyone just to shallow out the dips a bit. Play with it and see if it helps - I think it did a lot and technically my graphics are better now lol.

I normally run everything on LOW with all possible options disabled. With 99.99999% res scale I'm on Medium Graphics Quality, Medium Mesh Quality, Medium Texture Filtering and Low Antialiasing Post. I get a strong 125 FPS and my drops don't usually go below 100 - well, unless something really big happens but for general run and gun it's helped a lot to get some flow back as it's more consistent and I'm not constantly worrying about how shit I am playing while I'm stuttering.

My tests did include a full server and I noticed my frames were worse on it, but I felt it was still a welcome improvement change.

I still recommend everyone with a 10-30 ping use 10 on the network smoothing factor, if you are 30-50 use 20/25 and so on. Minimize this setting as far as possible relative to your latency, not your FPS performance or feeling or whatever. Also, I found the following CPU unparking app to be much better and I think this is well worth a run by everyone - load the game and see how your cores/FPS perform on each setting, you should also disable AC and Battery unless you are on a US laptop.

Sweet Hubreno, I am releatively happy with my FPS, I get between 60-70 with everything on low although it can dip to below 40 sometimes. I will try the network smoothing factor though. I dropped that down to nothing but my ping is usually like 13 except with I play on filthy CPT servers
